Briatore organiseert surpriseparty voor Bernie Ecclestone

Dinsdagavond werd Bernie Ecclestone geëerd door ruim 100 goede vrienden en speciale gasten. De verrassing werd door zijn goede vriend Flavio Briatore in het Londense Sumosan Twiga restaurant ter ere van 40 jaar verbondenheid aan de Formule 1. 

"Het is geweldig dat iedereen die ik gevraagd heb de uitnodiging heeft geaccepteerd en ook gekomen is", aldus Briatore. De gasten waren allemaal voorzien van een Bernie Ecclestone masker toen de 86-jarige Ecclestone binnenkwam.

De gastenlijst was ronduit indrukwekkend te noemen met onder andere Prins Albert van Monaco, Prins Salman van Bahrein, Piero Ferrari, Max Mosley, Niki Lauda, Toto Wolff en vele anderen. 

"Het was een eerbetoon aan de carrière van Bernie, die door de nieuwe eigenaren van de Formule 1 niet goed behandeld is", zo voegt de Italiaan toe. "De mensen vergeten snel wat deze man neergezet heeft. Het was een beetje een trieste avond, maar ook heel mooi", aldus Briatore.

      Bij binnenkomst scheet Bernie bagger in zijn bejaardenpamper, hij dacht dat zijn spaargeld over alle ‘Bernies’ zou worden verdeeld.

    Moet zeggen dat ik het op dit bericht na akelig stil vind betreft Bernie, kan me maar moeilijk voorstellen dat hij zo geruisloos door de acherdeur lijkt te verdwijnen. Was er van overtuigd die koopt Manor op, maar nee.

    Benieuwd hoeveel invloed hij werkelijk nog heeft op het geheel en sta er niet raar van te kijken mocht er toch nog ergens een duveltje uit een klein doosje komen, nee ben er nog steeds niet helemaal aan gewend F1 zonder Ecclestone
