Elektrisch probleem bracht Felipe Massa tot stilstand

Williams-coureur Felipe Massa is een van de rijders die het laatste deel van de tweede vrije training voor de Australische Grand Prix aan zich voorbij moest laten gaan. De Braziliaan strandde in een van zijn runs bij de chicane van bochten 9 en 10. Zelf dacht hij aan een versnellingsbakprobleem, maar het was iets anders. Technisch directeur Paddy Lowe legt uit: "Een elektrisch probleem bracht Felipe tot stilstand."

Massa zelf over de vrijdag in Melbourne: "Het was niet de geweldige dag waar we op gerekend hadden en helaas kon ik de tweede training niet afmaken. De auto schoot opeens in zijn neutraal en ik kon geen versnellingen meer selecteren. Daardoor kon ik niet meer op de ultrazachte band naar buiten en kon ik ook geen lange runs meer doen. Het is jammer dat we in Barcelona duizenden kilometers getest hebben en nu op dit probleem stuiten, maar ik geloof niet dat het een serieus probleem is."

Williams moest het in de tweede sessie op Albert Park hebben van Lance Stroll. "Voor mij was het een goede dag. Ik heb veel ronden kunnen rijden en dat stelde me in staat om de baan te leren kennen. Het voelt goed dat het ijs gebroken is en dat mijn eerste Grand Prix-weekend eindelijk begonnen is. De tweede training was een beetje rommelig, met gele vlaggen in mijn tweede run. Daardoor moest ik mijn vliegende ronde afbreken, maar dit waren slechts de vrije trainingen."

Wat bleek, met z'n lijf van ruim 1.80 botste z'n knie tegen de clutch als hij op over een bepaalde hobbel reed.. blijft krap zo'n Williams F1, zeker met kleine Felipe als je teamgenoot

  Dat klopt Mack maar je zit niet in een Formule 1 auto, je ligt dus je knieen zitten ter hoogte van het stuur en met die lengte kan je de koppeling raken die achter het stuur zit.

Op Sky vertelde Massa precies hetzelfde , een elektriche probleem .. ik weet niet waar dat versnellingsbak verhaal vandaan komt... Was misschien zn eerste reactie?
