Daniel Ricciardo: "We zijn nog aan het leren"

Voor Daniel Ricciardo verliep de Grand Prix van Australië niet bepaald naar wens. De thuisrijder leek niet eens aan de start te kunnen verschijnen: in de ronde naar de grid viel de RB13 stil in de laatste sector. Red Bull kreeg de auto echter op tijd terug en het lukte het het team om Ricciardo met twee ronden achterstand naar buiten te krijgen. Na 29 ronden was het alsnog einde verhaal voor Ricciardo.

Ricciardo baalt uiteraard van de uitkomst, maar geeft aan dat het nuttig is geweest om toch nog aan de race te beginnen: "Nummer 13 is een ongeluksnummer en dat was vandaag op mij van toepassing. Hopelijk wordt het snel een geluksnummer voor mij! We moeten nu verder, ik wilde terugslaan na mijn fout van gisteren. Het is duidelijk dat we een probleem hebben en dat we het snel op zien moeten te lossen. Ik ben blij dat ik in ieder geval nog heb kunnen deelnemen aan de race om de auto beter te leren kennen. We liggen nog wat achter en daarom is iedere ronde met de auto belangrijk."

    niet het beste begin wat je kan hebben in een seizoen maar, kan alleen maar beter worden als dit

    Eh, jij was aan te leren Ricciardo. Je teammate was al aan het aanhaken bij de 2e Ferrari.

    Red Bull helaas de grote verliezer van de winter.

    Hopen op snelle updates anders wordt het een eenzaam seizoen voor Ricciardo en Verstappen. Ze komen duidelijk tekort voor Ferrari en Mercedes, maar zijn te snel voor de andere teams.

      Verliezers worden aan het einde bekend @Rustcohle. Er zijn nog genoeg punten te verdelen. In racepace viel de achterstand erg mee. Met iets meer power en een beter bandenmanagement dan Mercedes kan Red Bull nog heel aardig meeblazen. Tijdens de wintertests was Mercedes 1,4 seconde sneller. In Australië was de snelste nog 0,4 seconde sneller. Bovendien komt er vooraan competitie. Ook dat geeft andere rondetijden dan verleden jaar toen er regelmatig Mercedes optochten waren.

      Ok, ze liggen iets achter.
      Maar een positieve mindset blijf ik houden. Komt wel goed. Renault komt tzt met updates en over een paar races zal de mgu-k problematiek ook wel opgelost zijn. Ik vond de racepace van Max best bemoedigend.
      Ik vraag me af hoe het komt dat sommigen zo somber zijn over Red Bull? Het seizoen is nog lang...

      Het seizoen is zeker nog niet verloren, ik was ook wel verrast dat Max redelijk in het spoor van Kimi kon blijven. Ze komen zeker nog te kort, maar ik denk dat ze de aansluiting met Ferrari en Mercedes nog wel gaan krijgen.
      China is een heel ander type circuit, en daar ging RBR vorig seizoen best goed.
      Ik heb er toch een redelijk positief gevoel aan overgehouden, de pace van Max was niet verkeerd.

      Hier kon Daniël ook weinig aan doen, ik vind het jammer dat zijn thuisrace zo moest eindigen.
      Hij kon zijn fout op deze manier niet goed maken, en dat is frustrerend voor hem. Maar dit hoort helaas nou eenmaal bij een mechanische sport.

    RedBull heeft lang doorgewerkt aan de basis, vanaf nu is tot de volgende regelementswijziging alles een evolutie op deze basis.
    Zo werkt newey, geen corner cutting voor de basis.

    De voorvleugel trilde als een malle, mag wat steviger, op de computer en in de windtunnel heb je geen hobbeltjes.
    Dat soort details verstoren de balans heel snel en flink, over 2 weken de volgende evolutie
