Palmer vraagt team de wagen goed te controleren voor China

Na een alles behalve goed raceweekend is de adrenaline inmiddels weer een beetje gezakt bij Jolyon Palmer. Hij laat zich in iets minder harde bewoordingen uit, maar wil wel dat het team zijn auto goed controleert voordat hij in China de baan op gaat.

Vertrouwen in het team

Palmer: "Ik had een behoorlijke crash op vrijdag en dus moesten we een hoop onderdelen van de auto vervangen. Nu moeten we goed kijken of alles naar behoren werkt." Daags na de race noemde Palmer de auto dramatisch en gaf aan geen vertrouwen in de auto te hebben. Maar het vertrouwen in het team is er wel: "Ik vertrouw erop dat ze dat ook doen, ze hebben veel ervaring en ze weten wat ze doen, daar heb ik geen zorgen over", aldus Palmer.

In aanloop naar de race had Palmer problemen met de versnellingsbak en oliedruk, dat zorgde ervoor dat hij helemaal achteraan op de grid moest starten. Maar zondag ging dat al veel beter volgens de coureur: "De start was goed, ik denk dat we op de softs moeite hadden ten opzichte van de de rijders op ultra-softs, maar het zag er goed uit." Uiteindelijk waren het de remmen die Palmer er toe dwongen om na 15 ronden de strijd te staken. "Dat was jammer want het was goed geweest om een raceafstand te rijden en kijken waar we zouden eindigen", zo zegt de Renault-coureur.

Zijn teamgenoot reed wel de wedstrijd uit, maar eindigde 1 plaats buiten de punten.

Als Team en je leest zoiets in de Media, dan zou ik toch denken gaat het wel allemaal goed met Palmer.

  Volgens mij heeft hij een vermeende problemen aan het chassis vorig jaar ook al eens opgevoerd toen hij de eerste races niet mee kon komen. Vervolgens ging hij met het test chassis rijden van begin van het jaar en reed deze in Monaco aan gort door op een glad stuk zebrapad zijn remactie in te zetten. Zijn vader kijkt altijd of hij gaat huilen als hij in beeld komt na zo'n actie. Willen heeeel graag een nieuwe Jenson in UK, maar deze is echt niet goed hoor.

Palmer reageert als een persoon die over zijn eigen benen is gestruikeld, opkijkt of niemand anders het verder gezien heeft en vervolgens toch maar snel ter preventie bezorgd en verwijtend naar de stoeptegels staart om te doen alsof zijn neus bloedt.

Denk ook niet dat Jolyon een hoogvlieger is maar dat wil niet zeggen dat hij met een slecht voorbereide of onveilige auto de baan op moet worden gestuurd.

Ik begrijp die keuze van Renault echt niet. Er zijn toch veel grotere talenten dan Palmer op de grid. Hulkenberg gaat zijn oren echt vierkant wassen.

Als Renault over 2 of 3 jaar weer richting de top gaat wil je toch over 2 goede coureurs beschikken lijkt me.
Palmer is echt gewogen en te licht bevonden.

  Het ging verleden jaar ook steeds beter , maar ja , Magnussen is ook geen hoogvlieger natuurlijk.
