Kevin Magnussen: "Het is positief dat de auto concurrerend is"

Volgens Kevin Magnussen voldoet de VF-17 van Haas F1 aan de verwachtingen en is daar erg blij mee. Hoewel het geen geweldig weekend was voor de coureur lijkt er genoeg snelheid in de wagen te zitten en dat geeft een goed gevoel.

De Deen kon zijn teamgenoot Romain Grosjean eigenlijk het hele weekend niet bij houden. Grosjean die uitstekend kwalificatie reed en plaats 6 op de grid in nam, daar waar Magnussen na Q1 al kon stoppen en op plaats 17 begon. De race ging ook niet lekker, eerst in bocht 3 de aanrijding met Ericsson en uiteindelijk de finish niet gehaald.

De auto presteerde prima

Maar het eerste weekend biedt zeker perspectief op beter: "Het is erg goed nieuws dat de wagen zo concurrerend is als wij hoopten, al is dat geen garantie voor de volgende keer." Dat het niet naar wens verliep lag niet aan de wagen: "We moeten hard werken om de auto weer zo goed te krijgen in China. De auto was er, hij presteerde prima, het lag aan mij dat ik een lastig weekend had", zo steekt hij de hand ook in eigen boezem.

Betrouwbaarheid moet beter

De Haas F1-coureur geeft aan dat hij niet genoeg tijd op het circuit had en dat er wat problemen met de betrouwbaarheid waren. Het belangrijkste blijft natuurlijk om de race te finishen anders heb je weinig aan snelheid volgens Magnussen. "Maar het is heel erg bemoedigend om te zien dat de wagen snel is. Ik los liever problemen met betrouwbaarheid op, dan problemen met een underperforming car", aldus de Deen.

Indien Wehrlein weer fit is en Magnussen het tempo van Grosjean niet weer te pareren, zeg ik: Antonio Giovinazzi in de Haas de rest vh seizoen.   Vervelende gelukzoeker zonder talent. Dit soort mafkezen is er eerste hand verantwoordelijk voor dat echte talent geen kans krijgt.

Best beschamend eigenlijk dat je Q2 niet haalt terwijl je teamgenoot P6 noteert. Als dat volgend weekend weer gebeurd moeten er toch alarmbellen gaan rinkelen?
