Ecclestone had Indy 500-uitstapje Alonso geblokkeerd

Bernie Ecclestone is dit weekend te gast in de Formule 1, de wereld die zo lang de zijne was. Begin dit jaar nam Liberty Media de macht in de koningsklasse van de autosport over en het mediabedrijf stelde geen prijs op de diensten van Ecclestone. De 86-jarige Brit is nog niet geraadpleegd voor advies, zo verkondigde hij in Bahrein.

Ecclestone: "Liberty heeft me nog nooit ergens om gevraagd. Tot vandaag dan. Vanochtend heb ik één of twee onderwerpen besproken met Chase Carey." Welke onderwerpen dat waren, dat liet de voormalige commerciële baas van de Formule 1 in het midden. De Brit werd ook gevraagd op wie hij zijn geld zou zetten voor de titel dit jaar. "Lewis Hamilton."

Het Indy 500-uitstapje van Fernando Alonso was onder zijn leiding niet tot stand gekomen, bekende Ecclestone. "Het is waarschijnlijk goed voor hem, maar ik had McLaren toch overgehaald om hem geen toestemming te geven. Ik had Fernando gezegd dat hij na afloop van zijn contract kon doen wat hij wil, maar dat hij nu midden in de Formule 1 zit en een Formule 1-coureur is. Daarentegen vind ik het ook niks om hem in de achterhoede te zien ploeteren."

Ik snap niet waarom hij het zou blokkeren zegt ook wat over de macht die hij blijkbaar had of dacht te hebben.
Hij hoort zich niet over dit soort dingen uit te laten dit is toch puur iets wat tussen Alonso en het team is.

      Eens, je verdient 30 miljoen per jaar aan de sport en zet deze dan eigenlijk te kakken! Maar ja, ze gaan Bernie nog wel missen(al zullen er veel anders over denken. Hij was de enige die de teams redelijk de baas was.

    Juist Bernie zou moeten weten, hoe je met bepaalde persoonlijkheden om moet gaan. Beetje jojo-en zeg maar. Soms moet je dingen toelaten, om er vervolgens zelf beter van te worden.
    Dat is precies de reden waarom Alonso van McLaren toestemming heeft gekregen voor zijn uitstapje.

    Het is toch juist mooi dat die twee werelden dichter bij elkaar worden gebracht op deze manier? Levert Alonso en dus de F1 ook weer publiciteit op.

      Helemaal mee eens, het gaat niemand wat aan wat coureur en team afspreken.
      Volgens mij hebben er in het verleden ook f1 coureurs aan de 24 uur meegedaan.

    Krijg steeds meer het idee dat de F1 blij mag zijn dat Bernie niks meer te zeggen heeft. Kennelijk zagen niet alleen anderen de tuinkabouter als dictatortje maar hijzelf ook.
    Waar dacht hij zich mee te kunnen bemoeien? Met alles, zelfs met teaminterne zaken? Ook hoeveel suikerklontjes er in de koffie gaan?
    Dacht het niet, tot ziens Bernie, maar zonder je scepter!

      Ik kan mij nog herinneren dat op de vrijdag in Monza 1996 Michael twee klontjes suiker in de koffie deed. Bernie zag het en pakte het bekertje zo uit de hand van Michael en smeet het bij Di Montezemolo in het gezicht.
      Dat was gelijk de eerste en de laatste keer dat het tuig van Ferrari probeerde om extra suiker in de koffie te doen.
      Wat dat betreft wordt Bernie wel degelijk gemist want als je ziet wat voor suikerpotten er tegenwoordig op tafel staan daar... F1 onwaardig!

      Klopt maar het laatste nieuws uit Bahrein is dat Bernie wat de koffie betreft inmiddels helemaal om is.

      Bij uitgerekend McLaren heeft hij de nieuwe koffielijn geproefd en raakte door een bakje ‘Honda-verkeerd’ compleet in hogere sferen.
      De oud-oppersmurf verzorgde een indrukwekkende buikdanssessie waarin hij eindigde met alleen zijn BB-string (Björn Borg) nog aan zijn verschrompelde billetjes. “What else? What else?” bleef hij maar met een George Clooney-blik op zijn gezicht herhalen.

      Het kan verkeren...

    onderbouwing? Voor Alonso reden zat natuurlijk: Indy 500!, crappie engine in de McLaren en bonvendien een Button die zonder moeite instapt. Bovendien is dit voor McLaren een soort van informatie inwinning kwa andere klassen racerij.
