Fernando Alonso: "Chassis McLaren behoort tot een van de besten"

Aan de resultaten is het niet te zien, maar volgens McLaren-coureur Fernando Alonso heeft McLaren een van de beste chassis van de grid. Hiermee lijkt Alonso de schuld van de matige vorm van McLaren volledig in de voeten van motorleverancier Honda te schuiven.

Alonso doet zijn uitspraken in de krant AS: "Ondanks het tekort aan vermogen hebben we laten zien dat wij een van de beste chassis op de grid hebben. Het is alleen jammer dat we de motor steeds moeten wisselen omdat deze stuk gaat en niet omdat deze het maximale aantal kilometers heeft gedraaid."

Alonso start de Grand Prix van Bahrein vanaf de vijftiende plaats, nadat de Honda-motor in de kwalificatie de geest gaf en de tweevoudig wereldkampioen zijn run in Q2 af moest breken.
