Lewis Hamilton over teamorders: "Het team moet winnen"

Sinds Toto Wolff in Bahrein tot tweemaal toe teamorders uitvaardigde aan Valtteri Bottas om Lewis Hamilton voorbij te laten gaan is de discussie over eerste en tweede rijder bij het team van Mercedes flink aangewakkerd.

Mercedes moet als team opereren

Valtteri Bottas kreeg gisteren tijdens de persconferentie vragen over de situatie en hij gaf aan dat het niet leuk was, maar dat het soms niet anders kan. Ook Lewis Hamilton zegt nu dat teamorders er nou eenmaal bij horen. Hamilton: "Het gaat erom dat het team wint en daarom zullen wij ook als een team moeten opereren, maar alleen bij speciale omstandigheden. Onze taakomschrijving is om voor het team te winnen, niet voor onszelf." 

De hevige concurrentie van Ferrari heeft de zaken duidelijk veranderd: "We willen voor Ferrari finishen dit jaar en om dat te bereiken moeten we meer dan ooit als een team samenwerken", zo zegt de Brit. 

Vettel: "Te vroeg voor teamorders"

Sebastian Vettel vindt het nog veel te vroeg voor teamorders. "Het is de vierde race dus het is nog niet het moment om over teamorders te spreken", zo zegt de Duitser. "Zijn wij blij met de start van ons seizoen? Ja. Hebben wij al iets bereikt? Nee. Dus moeten wij gewoon door blijven gaan.

    HAM en teamorders? Zijn dat niet 2 dingen die niet met elkaar overeen komen? Daar zal hij zich nooit aan houden als hij zelf kan winnen of een teamgenoot uit de race kan rijden..

    ik vind zijn vecht lust tegen andere goed geworden alleen mag het duidelijk zijn dat hij echt niet tegen competitie kan als het van zijn eigen team komt en hij hoe dan ook het voordeel wil krijgen van "zijn" team...

    Tot dat hij Bottas voor moet laten gaan. Vorig seizoen heb ik hem er met geen woord over gehoord. Zoals de meeste topsporters is ook Lewis zo egocentrisch als het maar kan.

    Anders moet je nog maar eens naar de laatste race kijken van 2016, Lewis doet alles om te winnen, maar Bottas was al 2de rijder voordat hij maar 1 meter gereden had. Al zullen ze zeggen het niet waar is. Het verschil is nu alleen dat Ferrari sneller is, dus dat maakt het een beetje ingewikkelder voor Toto om alles in goede banen te loodsen.
