Fernando Alonso: "Betrouwbaarheidsproblemen Honda niet te geloven"

McLaren-coureur Fernando Alonso beschrijft de problemen met de Honda-motor als "ongelofelijk". Gisteren ging de Honda-motor in de bolide van teamgenoot Stoffel Vandoorne wederom kapot. De Belg had gistermiddag zijn vijfde Honda-motor laten monteren en dat levert hem een gridstraf van vijftien plaatsen op.

Alonso: gridpenalty na vier races is niet normaal

Na een succesvolle test in Bahrein, waar Stoffel Vandoorne op de tweede dag 81 ronden reed zonder problemen, ging McLaren vol optimisme naar Sochi. "Stoffel Vandoorne had helaas weer problemen met de motor en dat levert hem een gridstraf op. Het is niet te geloven dat dit al in de vierde race gebeurt. We hebben zoveel problemen met de betrouwbaarheid en als er problemen optreden in de vrije trainingen geeft dat niet veel vertrouwen", aldus Alonso.

Dit weekend niet veel verbetering

Na de succesvolle test in Bahrein keek McLaren iets positiever uit naar Sochi. Volgens Alonso zal het echter niet heel veel beter gaan in Rusland: "We hebben niet veel updates hier mee naar toe genomen, ik verwacht dus dat het niet veel beter gaan dan in de eerste drie races. Tot Canada zal het lastig worden. We brengen wel updates mee aan het chassis, maar de motor zal tot Canada niet veel updates bevatten."

Altijd weer Stoffel die de meeste problemen heeft. Liijkt wel alsof zijn auto als test/ontwikkelings auto wordt gebruikt en dus veel vaker kapot gaat. Wel grappig op Ziggo werd aan Nyck de Vries gevraagd of de Honda in de simulator ook zo vaak kapot gaat. Hij zei van niet maar de sterke vibraties... [Lees verder]

  Gelukkig worden de straffen aan het eind van het seizoen kwijtgescholden, anders staan ze volgend jaar ook altijd achteraan ;)

  Ik heb medelijden met Stoffel en Fernando, dit gun je gewoon niemand.
  Gaat m ook niet worden dit seizoen.

Het is nog geen Zondag, dus er kan zomaar nog meer kapot gaan, en dan nog de vraag of Stoffel de race op Zondag wel uit kan rijden, Idem Alonso.

  natuurlijk rijden ze de race niet uit, waarom denk je dat?
  en dat gaan ze voorlopig ook niet doen, die honda engineers zijn kleuters.
  als honda verstandig is stappen ze er zo snel mogelijk uit.

  Idd, ik denk dat McLaren hoopt om Alonso volgend seizoen nog te kunnen houden... Zijn uitstap naar Indy500 moet je ook in dat licht bekijken. Het is gewoon teveel toeval dat de wagen van Vandoorne de meeste problemen kent.
