Max Verstappen: "Je kunt hier niet voorzichtig doen"

Gaat het Max Verstappen bij zijn derde poging lukken om de Grand Prix van Monaco uit te rijden? De jonge Nederlander start vanaf de vierde plek en heeft alle kansen op een mooi resultaat. Het is en blijft echter Monaco: een foutje en de race zit erop.

Nathalie Pinkham van Sky Sports voelde Verstappen tijdens de rijdersparade aan de tand. Wat verwacht de jonge Nederlander van de race: "Het belangrijkste is om bij de start uit de problemen te blijven. Van daar uit moet ik mijn eigen race gaan rijden en in de gaten houden wat de mannen om me heen doen. Er kan veel gebeuren in Monaco en we moeten als team alert zijn om de kansen te pakken die we krijgen."

Pinkham vroeg Verstappen ook of hij wat minder risico gaat nemen om zo de race uit te kunnen rijden. Het antwoord van Verstappen is duidelijk: "Nee, je kunt het hier niet rustig aan doen. Als de banden te koud worden heb je geen snelheid, je moet dus een bepaalde snelheid rijden. Om een goed resultaat te behalen moet je voluit gaan."
