Een jaar geleden vond er tijdens de Grand Prix van Canada een prachtig gevecht plaats tussen Red Bull-coureur Max Verstappen en Nico Rosberg in de Mercedes. Verstappen reed de laatste stint op de sneller slijtende ultrazachte banden, terwijl Rosberg op zachte banden onderweg was. Rondenlang probeerde de snellere Rosberg voorbij te komen, maar de Nederlander verdedigde uitstekend.

In de een na laatste ronde kwam Rosberg er alsnog voorbij op het einde van het rechte stuk, maar Rosberg remde te laat en spinde de uitloopstrook op. In onderstaande video zie je de slotfase van de race van vorig jaar met commentaar van Olav Mol.
