Force India in Grand Prix van Canada weer met normale T-wing

De haaienvinnen en de t-wings zijn dit jaar waarschijnlijk de meest besproken onderdelen van het chassis van de Formule 1-wagens. Force India ging in Monaco nog een stapje verder en bouwde er een verdieping bovenop, maar die lijkt in Canada niet terug te keren.

Technisch directeur van Sahara Force India Andy Green zegt tegen Auto Motor und Sport: "Het triple-deck is het maximum voor ons. We hebben het speciaal voor Monaco gebouwd." Maar wellicht gaan we hem toch nog twee keer zien. "Wellicht gebruiken we nog een variant in Singapore of Hongarije, maar op de andere circuits zal de t-wing kleiner zijn omdat ze ook veel afremmen", zo gaat Green verder.

Eind april werd bekend dat de T-wing en de haaienvin vanaf 2018 officieel verboden zijn, maar teams proberen er dit jaar nog steeds optimaal van te profiteren. Mercedes paste het ontwerp al eens aan omdat de T-wing tweemaal van de wagen van Bottas vloog en schade aan de auto van Max Verstappen veroorzaakte.

Op onder staande tweet van het team is de T-wing die in Monaco gebruikt werd goed te zien.
