Kevin Magnussen: "Haas F1 veel prettiger om te werken"

Eind vorig seizoen maakte Kevin Magnussen bekend over te stappen van fabrieksteam Renault naar het Haas F1 Team. Magnussen debuteerde in 2014 namens McLaren in de Formule 1, maar belandde in 2015 op een zijspoor. Na een moeilijk seizoen bij Renault koos Magnussen ervoor over te stappen naar een kleiner team.

De stap van een groot team naar een kleiner team heeft Magnussen geen windeieren gelegd, volgens de Deen is de werkomgeving bij het Amerikaanse team een stuk prettiger dan bij Renault en McLaren: "Ik voel me bij Haas veel meer op mijn gemak. Voor heen werkte ik voor teams die het moeilijk hadden om te presteren, mede omdat er veel druk was van buitenaf maar ook van de teamleiding. Die druk zorgde automatisch ook voor veel druk en stress bij mij als coureur en dat was niet eenvoudig."

Volgens Magnussen is er bij zijn huidige werkgever minder druk en kan Magnussen zich focussen op het rijden: "De druk bij Haas is minder groot, iedereen binnen het team is gemotiveerd en dat zorgt voor een fijne werkomgeving. Druk is niet per se verkeerd, maar zou alleen groot mogen zijn wanneer je vecht om overwinningen of kampioenschappen."

Magnussen scoorde tot nu toe vijf punten dit seizoen, daarmee staat de Deen op een dertiende plaats in het kampioenschap.

    Magnussen is gewoon een subtoppertje met af en toe een uitschietertje naar boven.

    Ja wat moet hij anders zeggen ! Kan moeilijk zeggen Renault was beter....
    Hij moet zijn contract ff goed doornemen, gaat voorlopig 6 trainingen missen... omdat zijn contact dit toelaat, prettig team Kevin top....

    Als ik dit zo lees en hij heeft dat werkelijk gezegd dan mogen ze hem van mij gelijk uit die F1 wagen trekken en een ander in die auto zetten.

    Totaal geen ambitie en je eigen glazen ingooien om ooit weer bij een topteam te rijden.

      Natuurlijk heeft hij dit niet zo gezegd. Dit is maar een gedeelte van een interview waarvan wij de vraag niet weten en de contekst niet weten. Daarnaast weten we ook niet hoe vrij dit vertaald is.

      Ik heb hem in een interview een tijd geleden iets horen zeggen in de strekking van: Haas heeft een hele prettige sfeer waar je niet continu onder druk staar zoals bij mclaren was omdat dit team nog aan het ontwikkelen is.
      Waarschijnlijk heeft hij nu ook iets soortgelijks gezegd.

    Kevin, wat zijn jouw ambities in de formule 1? Wereldkampioen worden toch zeker? Kevin: nee, nee, ben je gek? Dat is veel te veel stress en druk, niks voor mij, man! Laat mij maar gewoon meehobbelen in het middenveld en af en toe wat puntjes meepikken, dan ben ik meer dan tevree.
