Gridstraf Alonso loopt op tot veertig plaatsen

Voor aanvang van het weekend lieten McLaren-coureurs Fernando Alonso en Stoffel Vandoorne weten al een moeilijk weekend te verwachten op het Baku City Circuit en die vrees is nu al werkelijkheid geworden. Nadat McLaren gisteren een gridstraf bevestigde vanwege het wederom moeten vervangen van motoronderdelen, laat de Britse renstal weten dat de straf van Alonso nog verder oploopt.

De reden voor de nog grotere straf is het feit dat Honda de auto van Alonso gisteren uitrustte met een verbeterde specificatie van de motor, maar gisteravond besloten om Alonso te laten rijden met de vorige specificatie van de motor. Die beslissing zorgt ervoor dat de gridstraf van Alonso is opgelopen naar veertig plaatsen. 

Alonso en Vandoorne zullen de race in de Azerbeidzjaanse hoofdstad sowieso achteraan moeten starten. Gisteren viel Alonso nog stil met een versnellingsbakprobleem in de tweede vrije training.

    Plek 18 of 20 wat maakt het nu nog uit.
    Gewoon de straffen pakken, ergens gaat de zon weer schijnen en hebben ze het lek bij Honda boven.

      Het lijkt me zo lastig om met deze motoren dit af te schaffen. Ze zijn al zo duur en als je ook nog onbeperkt veel mag gebruiken wordt het natuurlijk alleen maar duurder.

      @Bonsai , ik heb het over de gridstraffen. 40 plaatsen gridstraf, dat slaat nergens op. Gewoon als laatste starten, klaar. En bij een extra motor wissel vanuit de pitsstraat starten. Duidelijk voor iedereen. Het lijkt Amerika wel met zijn 5x levenslang.

    40 plaatsen gridstraf, nou wat zal Alonso onder de indruk zijn. Net zoiets als veroordeeld worden tot 250 jaar celstraf.

    Wat een lol 40 plaatsen hoe komen ze erop.
    Straffen oké maar dit is echte onzin.
    Wie dat bedacht heeft moet zich schamen.
    Zet er een max op van 20 meer kan er niet worden gegeven in de praktijk.

    Echt flauwekul. Ze moeten hier eens naar gaan kijken van Liberty. Dat ze maar 4 motoren per seizoen mogen gebruiken oke maar om dan zulke straffen uit te delen. Laat ze dan gewoon vanuit de pitstraat starten bij gebruik van de 5e motor of meer. of laat ze gedurende de race een tijdstraf van 15 sec inlossen en die moet dan tijdens de race ingelost worden en niet de hele race uitrijden en dan 15 sec geven en die 15 sec ook niet tijdens een pitstop en ook niet tijdens een SC-situatie. Het is maar een idee.

    Haha die Fernando, met twee wereldtitels op zak, door velen genoemd als beste coureur op de grid, is weer terug waar hij begonnen is, bij een achterhoede team (het doet me zo'n pijn mijn favoriete team daar zo kansloos achteraan te zien klungelen). Het is haast te belachelijk voor woorden maar als hij niet oppast verdwijnt hij zo via de achterdeur naar buiten aangezien de weg omhoog een lastige wordt. Bij Mercedes verwacht ik hem niet zolang Hamilton daar nog rijdt, Ferrari met Vettel idem dito en Red Bull Racing wil hem ook niet. Williams en Force India kunnen hem waarschijnlijk niet betalen, en ook daar zal hij niet voor de winst kunnen rijden. Weer terug naar Renault? Want de vorige keer pakte dat ook al zo goed uit en daarbij, hoelang kun je teren op de 2005 en 2006 gloriejaren? Echt waar hij de motivatie vandaan haalt is me een raadsel. Qua geld zit ie prinsheerlijk op het droge, dat is in ieder geval iets, gooi het F1 boek dicht lijkt me en zoek de drang om te winnen lekker ergens anders of ga rentenieren oid. Als je niet weet hoe je dat moet doen, ik doe het je graag voor.

    Wat heeft het voor zin om een straf van 40 plaatsen uit te delen als toch maar 20 wagens zijn. Het zou pas echt eerlijk zijn als je de rest van de plekken in volgende races aan je broek krijgt.
