Sergio Perez houdt alle opties open voor volgend jaar

Force India-coureur Sergio Perez kan nog geen uitspraken doen over voor welk team hij in 2018 rijdt. De Mexicaan is bezig aan zijn vierde seizoen in dienst van zijn huidige werkgever. Vorig jaar sloeg hij nog een aanbieding van Renault af. Perez zou graag nog eens de stap naar een topteam maken.

"Het is te vroeg om te zeggen wat ik ga doen", begint hij in gesprek met Marca. "Op dit moment is het zo dat ik nergens een contract voor volgend seizoen heb. We weten dat je in de hedendaagse Formule 1 alleen voor Mercedes of Ferrari kunt winnen. Ferrari is misschien het beste team, maar we moeten nog maar zien welke mogelijkheden we hebben."

"In augustus of september moet we wel een helder beeld hebben van welke kant het op gaat. Er zijn veel opties dit jaar, waarschijnlijk meer dan in voorgaande seizoenen. De rijdersmarkt is interessant omdat er veel mogelijkheden zijn."

Perez is tevreden over wat hij dit jaar laat zien, deelde hij aan Sky Sports F1 mede. "Ik heb mijn niveau opgekrikt. Ik verkeer in blakende vorm in de kwalificaties en met de racesnelheid. Ik word alsmaar sterker. Dit is mijn beste seizoen tot nu toe. Het is een goed jaar tot nu toe. In de tests leken we nog een van de langzaamste teams, maar het team heeft puik werk geleverd."

"Het is een fantastisch seizoen, maar we hadden veel meer punten kunnen hebben. Zeker als je kijkt naar het incident in Bakoe, waar we op het podium hadden kunnen eindigen. En in Monaco liepen we een zevende plaats mis. Max Verstappen heeft betrouwbaarheidsproblemen gehad, maar ik heb ook wat slechte resultaten gehad. Zesde in het kampioenschap, dat hadden we nooit voor mogelijk gehouden."

Welke opties heeft Perez? Ferrari lijkt niet voor de hand liggend, Mercedes gaat door met Hamilton en Vettel, Red Bull met Ricciardo en Max... Dan houd je misschien McLaren over als optie. Maar ook dat lijkt niet erg waarschijnlijk... ben bang dat Perez alleen bij Force India terecht kan...

Hij is er 1 X afgereden door zijn eigen teammaat, zit eigenlijk een beetje goed te praten dat ie zo wie zo wel 6e had gestaan in het kampioen schap ,droom maar lekker verder Sergio!!!

In denk als een topteam mag kiezen tussen Perez en Ocon dat ze voor de tweede kiezen. Zit veel lager in zijn leercurve en doet nu vrij weinig onder voor Perez. Daarnaast is hij jonger en rookie. Ik denk dat Ocon aan het eind van het seizoen de snellere is.

Zoveel keus heeft Perez niet, zeker niet als hij een stap wil maken.
Ferrari heeft héél misschien een plekje voor hem als Kimi al stopt. Maar dan moet Sergio dit seizoen Ocon achter zich houden en zich ‘volwassen’ gedragen op de baan.

Red Bull en Mercedes hebben geen stoeltje voor de Mexicaan.

Renault zou in de toekomst een stapje hogerop kunnen worden, maar het is maar de vraag of dat in 2018 al opgaat.

Alle andere teams zijn een stapje terug dus mijn vermoeden is dat Force One in 2018 dezelfde line-up heeft met de Small One en de Tall One.
