Strategy Group vergadert woensdag over toekomst F1

De Strategy Group komt morgen in Genève bijeen om te overleggen over de toekomst van de Formule 1. De grote teams, de internationale autosportbond FIA en commerciële rechtenhouder FOM zijn vertegenwoordigd in het belangrijke besluitvormende orgaan. Voor deze vergadering staan onder meer de aerodynamische reglementen voor 2020 op de agenda, meldt Autosport.

Het gebrek aan spektakel met de agressiever ogende en snellere bolides voor 2017 is ook de hoge bazen van de Formule 1 opgevallen. Andere agendapunten zijn onder meer de invoering van de 'halo' of het 'shield' voor 2018, de diverse bandencompounds van Pirelli en de indeling van een Grand Prix-weekend. Daarnaast gaan de partijen in conclaaf over F1 Live Londen.

De eerste editie van F1 Live, in de Britse hoofdstad, was een doorslaand succes en McLaren-coureur Fernando Alonso hoopte bijvoorbeeld dat er nog veel meer van dat soort evenementen volgen. De Strategy Group gaat nu bekijken of ze de coureurs drie tot vijf keer per jaar kunnen verplichten om acte de présence te geven bij dergelijke shows.

    Hopelijk kijken ze vooral naar de belangen van de fans en minder naar de belangen van de fabrikanten. Is wel lastig want zonder fabrikanten geen F1 maar op dit moment hebben de fabrikanten nog wat te veel macht naar mijn idee.

      Fans vinden de auto's niet aggressief: brede wielen, andere bodyreglementen: minder inhalen

      Nee laat ze maar voornamelijk luisteren naar de fabrikanten, zij hebben meer kennis en zijn op de hoogte van de perikelen bij fans.

      Het zou een combinatie moeten zijn. Je geeft inderdaad aan wat de fans vinden/vonden maar de oplossing die wordt bedacht is niet altijd de juiste geweest. Bijv. DRS heeft wel meer inhaalacties opgeleverd maar niet de inhaalacties die de fans willen zien.
      Het blijft lastig denk ik om zowel de fans als de fabrikanten 100% tevreden te stellen omdat de belangen daarvoor teveel uiteen liggen. Ik denk alleen wel dat in het recente verleden de belangen van de fabrikanten misschien wat te zwaar hebben gewogen.

      Het zou voor de fabrikanten het belangrijkste moeten zijn wat de fans ervan vinden, dat zijn namelijk ook hun klanten.

      Bovendien genereren spannende races de meeste exposure voor de fabrikanten want dan volgen veel meer (potentiële) klanten op het circuit en de tv de GP’s.

    Gebrek aan spanning komt vaak door de grote verschillen.
    Waarom niet met gewicht werken. Mercedes is te snel voor iedereen geef hen x aantal kg strafgewicht mee de 2de in de stand x aantal kg en zo verder. Dan krijg je dat de auto's meer gelijk worden en niet 1 of 2 teams die erboven uit steken. De nadruk komt meer op de beste rijder ipv beste wagen.

      Of een auto beter/sneller is dan een andere ligt aan 100den parameters. Een auto straffen met gewicht heeft een enorme invloed op de afstelling en het rijgedrag van de wagen (waar leg je dat gewicht) en kan onmogelijk op een eerlijke manier toegepast worden om wagens dichter bij elkaar te krijgen. Je gaat continu discussies krijgen over wat "beter" nu echt betekent.

      Het is nu eenmaal een mechanische sport. De beste wagen/coureur combinatie wint, met een verhouding van 80/20 or 70/30 in het belang van de wagen. De enige manier om het spel eerlijk te spelen is om zo duidelijk mogelijk regels op te stellen en de invloed van -veel- geld in te dammen.

      Af en toe passen ze de regels iets dramatischer aan zodat een andere constructeur met een of andere innovatieve oplossing plots de overhand kan nemen op eentje die tot dan toe in een winning streak zat.

      Of omgekeerde startgrid, snelste wagens achteraan, veel meer inhaal acties. De huidige regels met de snelste man op p1 is gegarandeerd weinig actie. Kijk naar Ricciardo de laatste race, was erg leuk om naar te kijken, als hij niet laatste vertrok waren er veel minder inhaal acties.

      Belgisch voetbalprincipe. Eerste helft van het seizoen halve punten, tweede helft schuift het dichter naar elkaar toe en dan is het ook nog spannend.
