38 coureurs met genoeg punten voor een superlicentie

Er zijn op dit moment in totaal 38 coureurs die voldoende punten hebben verzameld om een superlicentie te verkrijgen. Dat achterhaalde Auto Motor und Sport. Bij die 38 coureurs zitten echter ook veel rijders die niet (meer) in aanmerking komen voor een kans in de Formule 1. Dan gaat het om coureurs die al een mogelijkheid gehad hebben of reeds te oud zijn voor een overstap.

Vier van die 38 zijn al actief in de Formule 1; Esteban Ocon, Jolyon Palmer, Stoffel Vandoorne en Lance Stroll. De aanwas van nieuwe Formule 1-coureurs stokt daar een beetje. Onder de 38 coureurs die in aanmerking komen voor een superlicentie zijn er slechts zeven die een serieuze kandidaat zouden zijn voor een invalbeurt; Antonio Giovinazzi, Sergey Sirotkin, Pierre Gasly, Oliver Rowland, Charles Leclerc, Nyck de Vries en Felix Rosenqvist.

Van dat zevental hebben De Vries en Rosenqvist het minste uitzicht om door te stoten. Voor de rest bestaat het gezelschap van 38 uit coureurs die zoals Lucas di Grassi, Anthony Davidson, Nelson Piquet jr en Kazuki Nakajima al een periode op het hoogste niveau erop hebben zitten en rijders als Scott Dixon, Helio Castroneves en Marcel Fässler die al redelijk op leeftijd zijn. Ook Mark Webber heeft nog recht op een superlicentie, maar hij is al gestopt.

Verder zijn er nog Neel Jani, Marc Lieb, Romain Dumas en Timo Bernhard die voor een carrière in de sportscars hebben gekozen. Voor volgend jaar verbetert de situatie wat, afgaande op de huidige tussenstanden in de diverse klasses. Negen coureurs voegen zich bij de lijst rijders met genoeg punten voor een superlicentie.

Onder hen ook het Britse wonderkind Lando Norris, die momenteel tweede staat in het Europees kampioenschap Formule 3. Maximilian Günther (F3), Luca Ghiotto (F2), Artem Markelov (F2), Josef Newgarden (IndyCar), Jack Aitken (GP3), Matevos Isaakyan (FV8) en Egor Orudzhov (FV8) staan eveneens op de drempel van de benodigde 40 punten voor een superlicentie.

Degene met de meeste superlicentiepunten achter zijn naam is Formule E-coureur Sebastien Buemi. Hij heeft 181 punten verzameld. De Zwitser is aan Red Bull verbonden als simulatorcoureur en reserverijder. In die hoedanigheid komt hij ook af en toe in actie voor Red Bull Racing, bijvoorbeeld tijdens de bandentests voor Pirelli. De teams van Red Bull beschikken zodoende in ieder geval over een geschikte vervanger, mochten ze die ooit nodig hebben.

  Kort gezegd win je meeste kampioenschappen krijg je superlicentie maar ook als je 40 punten haalt binnen 3 jaar of bijvoorbeeld 3 keer op het podium komt in 1 seizoen gp2.

  Kan zijn dat zijn overwinningen zijn behaald voordat deze regeling van kracht werd en ze niet voor de punten meetellen. Op basis laatste 3 jaar niet lijkt me.

  Ik vraag me ook af hoe het dan zit met overige oudere coureurs, zowel actief in de F1 als niet (meer)? Iets als een Alexander Rossi en Takuma Sato bijv. die hebben kennelijk geen Superlicentie meer? En hoe zit het met de coureurs die actief zijn buiten die 4?
  
  Of gaat het bericht niet over mensen die er al een hebben, maar er nog een moeten krijgen? Overigens suggereert dit ook dat je dus niet perse een superlicentie al moet hebben voordat je in de F1 gaat racen?
