Fernando Alonso krijgt gridstraf van 35 plaatsen voor motorwissel

Fernando Alonso lijkt morgen achteraan te gaan starten in de Grand Prix van Japan. De tweevoudig wereldkampioen heeft een gridstraf van 35 plaatsen te pakken door wederom een motorwissel.

De engineers bij het team van McLaren hebben vannacht lang doorgewerkt nadat een lek in het hydraulisch systeem was ontdekt. Er moesten de nodige componenten vervangen worden en kreeg onder andere zijn tiende MGU-H van het seizoen, zijn achtste MGU-K en zesde ICE. Het team van McLaren begon al in Japan met een domper, want de door Honda beloofde upgrade kwam niet.

Ook Carlos Sainz en Valtteri Bottas ontvingen deze week al gridstraffen voor de Grand Prix van Japan. Zo wordt Bottas 5 plaatsen teruggezet in verband met een nieuwe versnellingsbak en krijgt Sainz zelfs 20 plaatsen straf: Toro Rosso heeft zijn verbrandingsmotor, turbo en MGU-H vervangen.
