'Amsterdam en Rotterdam ontkennen interesse in Formule 1'

Eerder deze kwam naar beter dat Liberty Media-baas Sean Bratches onlangs een bezoek heeft gebracht aan Nederland om de mogelijkheden voor het houden van een Formule 1-race te bekijken. Volgens Bratches zijn Rotterdam en Amsterdam de meest geschikte locaties, maar zal het zeker niet voor 2020 gebeuren dat er weer een Grand Prix van Nederland zal worden gehouden.

Liberty Media is voorstander van het houden van races in grote steden, in plaats van permanente circuits. Races in steden als Singapore en Baku zijn populair, omdat het mogelijkheden biedt tot het organiseren van een goed bijprogramma. Op permanente circuits is er vaak een bijprogramma in de vorm van andere raceklasses, maar Liberty Media wil ook andere takken van entertainment betrekken. Singapore staat er bijvoorbeeld om bekend om iedere dag van het Grand Prix-weekend optredens te organiseren om de fans meer te bieden dan alleen racen. Volgende week wordt de kwalificatie in Austin zelfs uitgesteld vanwege een concert van popidool Justin Bieber.

Dat Bratches een bezoek heeft gebracht aan Nederland mag geen verrassing heten. Formule 1 leeft weer in Nederland dankzij Max Verstappen en Nederland kan een interessante markt zijn vanwege de steeds groter wordende schare aan fans. Ondanks de interesse van Bratches voelen de stadsbesturen van Rotterdam en Amsterdam minder voor het organiseren van een race in de stad.

Volgens een woordvoerder van de gemeente Amsterdam hoort de Formule 1 niet thuis in de straten van een historische stad en zou een Grand Prix enkel op een permanent circuit gehouden kunnen worden. De gemeente Rotterdam laat weten dat er de komende jaren veel infrastructurele werkzaamheden op het programma staan, waardoor het organiseren van een groot evenement als de Formule 1 niet mogelijk is.

    Ik denk dat Bratches meer met Yab Yum bezig is geweest dan de bezoeken aan het stadhuis.

    Dus we organiseren een GP, die moet wijken voor een optreden van Justin Bieber.

    Kan iemand mij dit uitleggen? Ik heb een beetje moeite om te snappen wat de fans van Justin Bieber hebben met F1. Ik snap best dat er een 12 jarig meisje tussen zit, die een vader heeft die voor Ferrari is ofzo, maar hoezo een concert van Justin Fucking Bieber in een F1 weekend?!!

      Lijkt me sterk dat ze de kwalificatie gaan uitstellen tot na het concert. Het concert is zaterdag 3 uur lokale tijd, en dan is het hier 8 uur 's avonds.

      en dat komt van de website van het circuit. Dus hoezo wordt de kwalificatie uitgesteld?

      New York hoeft natuurlijk niet meer als je Oss al hebt, er moet wel wat variatie in locaties overblijven. De skyline van beide steden zijn als twee druppels water alleen zonder het Vrijheidsbeeld.

    Lachwekkend deze soap, vanaf het eerste moment wist ik al dat het niets inhield. Over twee dagen volgt er nog een bericht rond deze luchtkasteelsoap: "Amsterdam en Rotterdam bevestigen dat er nooit een dutch grand prix in hun stad gehouden zal worden".

    Als er iemand is die dit gaat betalen, dan zou het wel kunnen, maar ik denk dat je dan beter Zandvoort kan verbouwen, dat moet in zijn geheel plat en opnieuw opgebouwd worden.
