Max Verstappen en Daniel Ricciardo bezoeken NASA Space Center in Houston

Zoals gebruikelijk bij iedere Grand Prix, zijn de coureurs van Red Bull Racing weer cultuur wezen snuiven in de omgeving van Austin. Max Verstappen en Daniel Ricciardo brachten een bezoek aan NASA's Johnson Space Center. 

Op drie uur rijden van het Circuit of the Americas ligt Houston en daar wilde het team en de coureurs graag een bezoek aan brengen. Op de website van Red Bull Racing valt te lezen: "Na een paar telefoontjes om toegang te krijgen en vervolgens nog een paar meer om de mensen bij NASA ervan te overtuigen dat onze jongens dit soort dingen de hele tijd doen en ze echt niets kapot zullen maken, althans: niets belangrijks, waren wij onderweg."

Op de social media-accounts van het team zijn foto's en video's te bekijken van Verstappen en Ricciardo op NASA-excursie. Hopelijk is er geen coureur die in Austin roept: "Houston we have a problem!"

      Heel vaak geweest. Houston is niet vaak de eerste plaats waar men aan denkt als men naar de VS wil, maar is echt een aanrader! En t Spacecenter is wel echt een mustsee imo. Vooral de simulators om de spaceshuttle te vliegen en te landen zijn tof. Plus Texas heeft veel meer leuke plaatsen voor een rondtrip met oa Dalas, Corpus Christie, San Antonio, Ford Worth en dus ook Austin. Vond zelf Austin nog de minste. En de lekkerste steak komt uit Texas...

      Nou tot zover mijn Texas verkooppraatje ?

    Max had ook gewoon naar Space Expo in Noordwijk kunnen gaan of naar esa wat er naast ligt. Interessant spul in ieder geval!

    Een van de redenen waarom Max bij RBR moet blijven. Ik heb nergens een ander team gezien die zoveel activiteiten onderneemt met de rijders om ze op een leuke manier wat ontspanning te geven.

      Het zal zeker ontspannend zijn voor de rijders, maar de voornaamste reden dat ze dit doen is volgens mij puur marketing.

      Het is natuurlijk een wisselwerking van teambuilding en marketing samen. Maar waar een goede en ontspannen werksfeer heerst is de kwaliteit en motivatie om hard voor je team te werken net die 101 % en die ene % maakt het verschil. En natuurlijk is het voor een deel commercieel wat ook een logische stap is vind Ik. Er moet geld verdiend worden. Tuurlijk zijn er meer teams die dit doen....maar bij Redbull hebben ze dit spelletje en wisselwerking goed begrepen. Er is niet één team op de grid hier zo mee bezig als Redbullracing. Dit voorbeeld zouden werkgevers eens moeten gaan volgen dan zou er een stuk minder verzuim op de werkvloer zijn en de prestaties van werknemers zou om hoog vliegen.

    Wat onhandig zeg, dat bij iedere Grand Prix weer naar de omgeving van Austin moeten vliegen om cultuur te gaan snuiven. Gezien de jet lags best knap dat ze het dan nog zo goed doen.

    Goed dat ze bij NASA ook een ruimte hebben voor Kendo, want “het disciplineren van het menselijke karakter” is belangijk als je vele maanden opgesloten zit tussen de sterren. ;)
