Carlos Sainz: "Ik bekijk nu alles van sessie tot sessie en stap voor stap"

Carlos Sainz verkaste na de Grand Prix van Japan van Toro Rosso naar het team van Renault om daar Jolyon Palmer te vervangen. Hij neemt dan ook voor de eerste keer in het geel van Renault plaats bij de persconferentie. 

Waarom is het belangrijk voor Sainz en het team dat hij nu al de overstap maakte naar de Franse renstal wordt gevraagd. Sainz: "Alle input die ik kan geven voor de huidige wagen en alle ervaring die ik met het team op kan doen zal mij helpen in aanloop naar volgend jaar."

Sainz heeft meer WK-punten dan zijn nieuwe teamgenoot Nico Hülkenberg, maar wat is de verwachting van de Spanjaard als het aankomt op de kwalificatie ten opzichte van zijn nieuwe teamgenoot? Sainz: "Dat moeten we vooral nog afwachten, mijn doel is om het van sessie tot sessie te bekijken. Natuurlijk wil ik gelijk de juiste snelheid hebben, maar ik moet eerst alle stappen stuk voor stuk doorlopen om mijzelf aan de wagen aan te passen. Dat heeft tijd nodig en ik hoop dat zo snel mogelijk te realiseren."

    Je moet hulk gaan verslaan anders is het einde oefening denk ik. Dan komen de saubers en williams in beeld.

    Hij bekijkt het van sessie tot sessie maar is dat is net zover als zijn neus lang is. Dat kan nog wat worden!

    De vorige coureur die tijdens het lopende seizoen overstapte van Toro Rosso naar een nieuw team, ging ook rustig aan zijn nieuwe wagen wennen, alleen duurde dat maar een paar rondjes, en we weten wat daar het eindresultaat van was. De druk staat vol op de ketel Carlos! Het minste is, punten scoren!

      Onzin, als hij bij Hulk in de buurt kan komen doet hij het gewoon heel goed in zijn eerste weekend.

      Toch zal er minder verschil zitten in twee auto's van Red Bull, dan tussen STR en Renault. In Amerika zal hij inderdaad rustig sessie tot sessie bekijken en de auto naar de finish moeten brengen. In Mexico vind ik t toch wel een zekerheidje dat hij punten moet gaan scoren, onlangs het lange rechte stuk.

      Even punten scoren in Mexico is niet zo makkelijk. In theorie staan er vier teams minimaal voor Renault. Dat zijn acht coureurs en dan leveren alleen de negende en tiende plek verder nog punten op en daar strijden veel coureurs voor.
      Okay, dat is slechts theorie, maar het laat wel de lastige situatie zien.
