Kevin Magnussen gisteren ziekjes, maar stapt vandaag gewoon in de auto

Haas F1-teambaas Günther Steiner heeft laten weten dat Kevin Magnussen fit genoeg is om de kwalificatie te rijden voor de Grand Prix van Mexico. Magnussen moest gisteren verstek laten gaan bij de rijders-briefing als gevolg van een 'medisch probleem'.

Terug naar hotel

Magnussen zou last hebben van zijn buik en zal nog een medische check van de FIA moeten ondergaan om te bekijken of hij vandaag in de wagen plaats mag nemen. Steiner: "Ik denk niet dat hij nog veel last zal hebben. Hij moest een keer even uit de wagen omdat hij 'iets moest doen', maar verder was hij fit genoeg. Maar samen met zijn trainer Thomas Jorgensen hebben wij voorgesteld dat hij terug zou gaan naar het hotel in plaats van de bijeenkomst met de andere coureurs."

Steiner blijft erop hameren dat hij gewoon van start zal gaan: "Hij was ok toen hij vertrok, ik wilde alleen niet dat hij iemand anders zou aansteken." Als hem gevraagd wordt of Magnussen gaat rijden zegt hij kort: "Ja ja."
