Grosjean: "In 2018 meer middelen tot onze beschikking"

Haas F1 Team verbeterde dit jaar de prestatie uit het debuutseizoen 2016 door meer punten te scoren, maar er is nog genoeg voor verbetering vatbaar bij de Amerikaanse renstal. Coureur Romain Grosjean hoopt op een significante stap vooruit in 2018. "Er zijn veel aspecten die we verder moeten optimaliseren", aldus de Fransman.

Hij vervolgt: "We dienen te werken aan de koeling, we hebben meer downforce en minder drag nodig. We hebben veel nieuwe ideeën, maar de overige teams zullen natuurlijk niet stilstaan deze winter." Haas F1 Team schoot dit seizoen voortvarend uit de startblokken, maar zakte naarmate het jaar vorderde steeds verder weg.

In de laatste races van 2017 haalde Haas soms zelfs een bedenkelijk niveau. Grosjean: "Als een team meer middelen tot zijn beschikking heeft, dan kan het aan het einde van een seizoen nog even gas geven zonder de ontwikkeling voor het volgende jaar in gevaar te brengen. We hebben er een gewoonte van gemaakt om goed te zijn aan het begin van een seizoen en dan raken we langzaam maar zeker de aansluiting kwijt, maar we zullen volgend jaar meer middelen tot onze beschikking hebben."
