Charles Leclerc: "Lastig om een duidelijk doel te stellen"

Charles Leclerc is druk bezig met zijn voorbereidingen op zijn debuut in de Formule 1 bij het team van Alfa Romeo Sauber volgend jaar. Maar het is gezien de prestaties van het team afgelopen jaar lastig om een duidelijk doel te stellen.

Nieuwste motor voor Sauber

Sauber eindigde vorig jaar op de laatste plaats in de stand om de constructeurstitel. Het team had de beschikking over een Ferrari-motor uit 2016. Komend seizoen zal het van de nieuwste motoren van de Italiaanse fabrikant gebruik kunnen maken en dat zou de concurrentiepositie op de grid moeten verbeteren.

Voorspelling is lastig

Als Leclerc gevraagd wordt naar zijn kansen zegt hij: "Ik denk dat het lastig is een voorspelling te doen voordat je de wagen echt op het circuit aan het werk kan zien. In junioren categorieën weet je wat je kan verwachten en kan je een duidelijk doel stellen. Maar in de Formule 1 is dat een stuk lastiger, de verschillen tussen de wagens zijn groter."

Motor grote stap

Het is dus afwachten tot de pre-season tests in Barcelona voordat duidelijk is waar het team staat denkt ook het talent uit de Ferrari-stal. "We gaan het zien na de eerste tests, zoals altijd doe ik mijn uiterste best in de wagen, maar het is moeilijk in te schatten wat te verwachten. We hebben een nieuwe motor, dat zou al een grote stap moeten zijn. Maar het hangt er ook vanaf welke stappen andere teams maken, dat is afwachten."

Ben ook erg benieuwd !! Hoop dat Sauber met hem en de verse PU de weg naar boven heeft ingezet. Leuk voor de strijd in het middenveld/achterhoede.

  Ik wil Max hier natuurlijk liever niet bij betrekken, maar..Ik denk wel dat hij dezelfde spirit moet hebben als toen Max in de TR of de RB stapte. niet teveel nadenken en gewoon doen.

Leclerc lijkt er maar een klein beetje op maar zijn uitstraling lijkt m.i. wat op die van wijlen François Cevert.

Hij zegt in ieder geval niet dat hij al bijna net zo goed als Alonso is...

Feitelijk zegt hij ongeveer hetzelfde als bijna iedereen: afwachten! En gelijk heeft ie. Alleen als je in een Mercedes zit en Hamilton heet is een g0kje niet zo moeilijk.
