Amazon lanceert op 9 februari miniserie over McLaren

Op het circuit was het seizoen 2017 ronduit belabberd voor McLaren. Vanaf 9 februari zal het mogelijk zijn om het seizoen op een nieuwe manier te herbeleven. Dan wordt een miniserie over het team gepubliceerd bij streamingdienst Amazon Prime Video.

Successen waren schaars voor McLaren in 2017, dat het seizoen begon met een nieuwe eigenaar, een debuterende coureur en een klagende stercoureur. Zak Brown nam na 37 jaa het stokje over van Ron Dennis als eigenaar van het Britse team, terwijl Stoffel Vandoorne aan zijn debuutseizoen begon als vervanger van Jenson Button. Ten slotte bleef Fernando Alonso het team trouw, maar gedurende het jaar raakte de Spanjaard steeds gefrustreerder met de betrouwbaarheidsproblemen van het team.

Het seizoen 2017 was misschien wel het interessantste en meest uitdagende seizoen uit het bestaan van McLaren en dat seizoen is vastgelegd op beeld. Amazon heeft de miniserie de naam Grand Prix Driver meegegeven en beslaat vier afleveringen. Volgens Amazon geeft de serie ongeëvenaarde toegang tot wat er gebeurt bij McLaren. Ook Brown zegt dat hij 'zich niet kan herinneren dat een Formule 1-team zoveel prijsgaf als dat wij gedaan hebben.

Vandaag lanceerde Amazon een trailer voor Grand Prix Driver, dat vanaf 9 februari gratis voor Amazon Prime-leden te zien is op het streamingplatform.
