Ferrari zet Daniil Kvyat vooral in bij simulatorsessies

Daniil Kvyat hoeft er niet op te rekenen dat hij dit jaar kilometers mag maken in de Formule 1-wagen van Ferrari. De kersverse ontwikkelingscoureur van de Scuderia zal zich vooral in de simulator nuttig moeten maken voor de Italiaanse renstal. Een echte test is vooralsnog niet aan de orde.

Een woordvoerder van Ferrari verklaarde aan persbureau Tass: "De rol van ontwikkelingscoureur wordt over het algemeen geassocieerd met werkzaamheden in de simulator. De activiteiten op de circuits blijven voorbestemd aan onze vaste rijders Sebastian Vettel en Kimi Raikkonen."

De komst van Kvyat naar Ferrari is gezien zijn aanvaringen uit het verleden met Vettel best pikant. De viervoudig wereldkampioen omschreef de Rus ooit eens als 'torpedo' nadat Kvyat zich in China bij de start langs Vettel had gewurmd. In Rusland 2016 ramde Kvyat de Ferrari-coureur uit de race.

C More-analist Toni Vilander is verrast met de keuze van Ferrari voor Kvyat. "Het voorziet de Scuderia van waardevolle ervaring, aangezien Daniil vorig jaar nog een actieve coureur was. Misschien vindt zijn management dit een verstandige beslissing, maar in de simulator word je als rijder niet beter."

"Kvyat moet niet te lang aan de zijlijn doorbrengen, elke coureur wil alleen maar racen. Het wordt moeilijk voor hem om zich nog terug te knokken. Misschien dat hij nu een aantal sponsors achter zich weet te scharen, dan zou hij wellicht op termijn terecht kunnen bij Sauber of Haas F1 Team."

  Als de SIM maar geen strafpunten hanteert voor het torpederen van anderen. Voor je het weet mag Kvyat een weekendje niet spelen.

Een teken dat Kvyat dus echt geen andere keus heeft om te racen en waarschijnlijk hier een leuk zakcentje kan verdienen.
Daarnaast is hij voor Ferrari van toegevoegde waarde doordat hij de afgelopen jaren bij Red Bull en Toro Rosso in de keuken heeft kunnen kijken. Wat dat betreft dus een prima keuze.

  Volgens mij heeft RedBull Kvyat toch wel ver bij zich vandaan gehouden. Vraag mij af hoeveel technische details hij kent, zeker nu afgelopen seizoen de aerodynamica grondig is veranderd (en RedBull vooral Ferrari heeft gekopieerd).

Dit is juist een zeer goede kans om volgend jaar weer een zitje te bemachtigen. Zowel Magnussen en Grosjean zijn van minder niveau dan Kvyat en gezien te connecties tussen haas en Ferrari maakt hij hierdoor kans op een zitje voor 2018 in de Haas.

Zelf Guiterez heeft met behulp van deze constructie weer een formule 1 zitje weten te bemachtigen.
