Ferrari zet Bortolotti en Zampieri uit Driver Academy

Mirko Bortolotti en Daniel Zampieri zijn hun plaatsen in de Ferrari Driver Academy kwijt geraakt. De twee coureurs behoorden tot de eerste lichting coureur in het programma, maar Ferrari verklaarde dat het de coureurs verder niet meer zal steunen.

Bortolotti kwam in 2008 onder de aandacht van Ferrari toen hij indrukwekkende tijden liet noteren tijdens zijn eerste test in de F2008 na het winnen van het Italiaanse Formule 3-kampioenschap. In 2010 eindigde de Italiaan echter maar éénmaal op het podium in de GP3 Series. Zampieri kende een tegenvallend seizoen in de World Series by Renault met de negende plaats in de eindstand.

Jules Bianchi blijft deel uitmaken van de Driver Academy, net als Sauber-coureur Sergio Perez. Andere leden uit het Ferrari Driver Academy-programma zijn karter Lance Stroll, Formule Abarth-kampioen Brandon Maisano en Formule Future Fiat-kampioen Nicola Costa.
