Vettel in Duitsland tot Sportman van het Jaar gekroond

Red Bull Racing-coureur Sebastian Vettel is verkozen tot Sportman van het Jaar in Duitsland. De wereldkampioen Formule 1 versloeg bij de verkiezing tafeltennisser Timo Boll en golfer Martin Kaymer met groot verschil.

Vettel verzekerde zich in Abu Dhabi van zijn eerste wereldtitel in de Formule 1. De 23-jarige rijder reisde niet als favoriet naar de laatste Grand Prix van het seizoen af, maar terwijl hij zegevierde lieten concurrenten Fernando Alonso en Mark Webber het liggen. Vettel is na Michael Schumacher de tweede Formule 1-kampioen uit Duitsland.
