Verstappen ziet eigen museum zitten, 'maar nu nog niet'

Max Verstappen staat feitelijk gezien nog maar aan het begin van zijn carrière in de Formule 1, maar over een aantal jaar zou een eigen museum hem wel mooi lijken. Dat vertelde de Red Bull-coureur aan Verstappen.nl.

Verstappen heeft al zijn eigen winkel in Swalmen, waar tegelijkertijd al relikwieën uit de loopbaan van de Nederlander verzameld worden. Eerder dit jaar ging Verstappen even langs bij zijn eigen winkel, waar onder andere een van zijn Formule 1-bolides te bewonderen is. "Daar sta ik eigenlijk niet bij stil, maar het is natuurlijk heel mooi om te zien. Het is ook gaaf dat er zoveel mensen op af komen en het was tevens de eerste keer dat ik mijn eigen auto zag. Ik had hem namelijk nog nooit in het echt gezien. Uiteraard wel toen ik er zelf in reed, maar erna niet meer. Later zie ik een eigen museum wel zitten, maar nu nog niet. Daarom zijn we nu bezig met verzamelen. Ik kan nu wel een museum gaan opbouwen, maar dan staat er nog niet zoveel in. Van het karten wel natuurlijk, maar van de autosport nog niet."

In de karts heeft Verstappen natuurlijk de nodige successen gehad, maar momenteel is hij weinig in de gelegenheid om het zelf te doen. Wel ziet hij dat het racen in karts relaxter was dan in de Formule 1. "Dat is eigenlijk heel simpel. Met karten ga je naar de kartbaan en dan kun je rijden. Er zijn ook geen restricties. Het is allemaal wat relaxter en makkelijker op te bouwen. Zelf heb ik al bijna anderhalf jaar niet meer écht gekart. Ik heb er ook geen tijd meer voor. Zelfs in de winter komt het niet echt uit in verband met het trainen."

Op de vraag of Verstappen bezig is met de records die hij breekt en kan breken, antwoordde hij: "Ik kijk er wel naar, maar het is nog allemaal ver weg. Het moet ook allemaal meezitten. Die records komen vanzelf wel als je de juiste auto hebt. Ik probeer natuurlijk altijd mijn best te doen en een zo goed mogelijk resultaat te behalen."

Misschien kan hij in de toekomst van de gemeente Amsterdam één etage van de parkeergarage onder het museumplein kopen.
Dan hebben we dicht bij elkaar één landgenoot die zijn oor afsnijdt, en één die net voor de finsh de bocht afsnijdt.

Als hij wat ouder wordt ziet hij wel in dat het een onzin verhaal is... Op basis waarvan zou hij een eigen museum inrichten ? Zal hij eerst minstens Senna achtige legende moeten worden... Maar ja, dromen mag ....
