F1-race in straten van Kopenhagen 'totaal onrealistisch'

Het project om de Formule 1 naar Kopenhagen te halen heeft een flinke deuk opgelopen. Ninna Hedeager Olsen, locoburgemeester in de Deense hoofdstad, heeft het idee voor een Grand Prix in de straten van haar stad afgedaan als luchtfietserij.

"De organisatie van een evenement als een Formule 1-race is dusdanig uitgebreid en vergt zoveel middelen dat het totaal onrealistisch om te denken dat Kopenhagen in 2020 een Grand Prix kan organiseren", vertelde Olsen in Politik. "Mijn administratie schat bovendien dat de Formule 1 het centrum van de stad tot wel negen weken lang zou ontwrichten. Dat is natuurlijk compleet onacceptabel."

De lay-out voor het beoogde stratencircuit is al bekend. Het betreft een baan van 4,5 kilometer en het parkoers voert onder meer langs het Christiansborg Palace - waar het Deense parlement zetelt - en over meerdere bruggen. Volgens de plannen zouden de auto's op de Knippelsbro-brug zelfs snelheden van 300 kilometer per uur bereiken. Met het project zou een bedrag van rond de 40 miljoen euro gemoeid zijn.

Oud-coureur Jan Magnussen heeft samen met Hermann Tilke de baan ontworpen. Aan het roer van het consortium achter dit project staan de voormalig Deense minister Helge Sander en Lars Seier Christensen, oud-directeur van Saxo Bank. Sander voerde vorig jaar in Singapore overleg met Formule 1-baas Chase Carey, commercieel directeur Sean Bratches en Chloe Targett-Adams van de afdeling promotors.

De Deense regering, de koninklijke familie en de gemeente Kopenhagen zouden zich al achter de plannen geschaard hebben. Oppositie is er ook, van milieubewegingen en groepjes inwoners. De organisatie van de Grand Prix van Singapore onthulde vorige week jaarlijks 80 miljoen pond aan de race kwijt te zijn, waarvan 60 procent opgehoest wordt door de overheid. Met zo'n bedrag moeten ze in Denemarken ook rekening houden.

Klopt maar er staat ook dat de vader van Kevin Magnussen meegeholpen heeft met het circuits ontwerpen. Die houdt natuurlijk rekening met de mogelijkheden van zijn zoon.
Zelf stelde hij alleen een recht stuk voor maar dat ging zelfs Tilke te ver :)

Ja natuurlijk. Waarom dan niet meteen in samenwerking met Malmö? Kunnen we die brug van 8 km mooi gebruiken als DRS zone.

Er is maar een beetje boerenverstand nodig om in te zien dat zo'n F1 race in een (binnen-) stad schreeuwend veel geld kost en wekenlang voor overlast zorgt.
Dat mensen financiële of andere offers moeten brengen, is wel duidelijk. Alleen landen waar het met inspraakrecht en democratie niet optimaal geregeld is kunnen zo'n stadsrace organiseren (en nee, Melbourne is in een park, niet in de binnenstad).

  IDD, lijkt mij ook een hele saaie race en ik denk dat de F1 nu al meer dan genoeg straatraces telt (helaas vinden ze dat bij LM niet)

De kalender telt al te veel statencircuits. Staan bijna altijd garant voor saaie races. Hou het nou maar bij Monaco, da's al erg genoeg.

  Ja maar dat is geloof ik toch wel waar LM heen wil, straten races en races met veel spektakel.
  Nou gaan die twee dingen niet echt hand in hand..
  Het enige spektakel is waarschijnlijk de kwalificatie, de race is een optocht.

Ben er op google earth ook wel is een kijkje wezen nemen maar leek me al veel te gecompliceerd om daar een serieuze F1 te rijden.... Net als hartje Amsterdam volkomen onzinnig/onrealistische zou zijn...

  Echt Hartje amsterdam, dat was echt de grootste grap ooit.
  Ze kunnen de Stad al amper bereikbaar en begaanbaar houden zoals het nu is, laat staan als het hele circus er heen komt. misschien als we de grachten kunstmatig laten bevriezen kunnen we overal heen schaatsen..
