Ricciardo kreeg vrijdag nog geen vat op ultrazachte band

Red Bull Racing-coureur Daniel Ricciardo viel een beetje uit de toon in de tweede vrije training voor de Chinese Grand Prix. Terwijl de overige vijf rijders van de drie topteams qua tijden vlak bij elkaar eindigden in de voorhoede, bleef de Australiër steken op een negende plaats op een seconde van de snelste tijd. Zijn kwalificatieruns lieten nog te wensen over.

De ultrazachte compound vormt het probleem, legde Ricciardo na afloop uit. "Beide trainingen waren voor de helft goed en de andere helft niet goed. Op de hardere compounds voelde ik me over het algemeen meer op mijn gemak. Met de ultrazachte band worstelde ik tijdens mijn kwalificatierun. Ik heb nog geen vat gekregen op de zachtste band voor dit weekend."

"De ultrazachte compound is een listige band. Ik slaagde er niet in om er meer grip uit te halen. Zodra we overstapten op de ultrazachte banden was het gedaan met de pret. We hebben die compound twee keer gebruikt vandaag en beide keren was ik niet tevreden. Zowel 's ochtends als 's middags gingen we er niet significant harder mee."

"We wonnen maar twee tienden ten opzichte van de zachte band en die is twee compounds harder dan de ultrazachte band. Het voelde alsof ik de banden in de eerste sector al om zeep hielp. De rondetijd verbeterde niet in de eerste drie, vier bochten. We moeten uitvogelen waar we dat laten liggen, zodat we het kunnen veranderen voor morgen."

Gewoon niet gebruiken dan. Je staat toch standaard 5e of 6e, en dan kun je maar beter wat langere runs doen in de race.

iK hoop dat ze niet weer die rukfout gaan maken om op soft te starten, Juist de Bull is goed voor de bandjes, gewoon alles op de ultra.

  juist wel,...je zegt het zelf,de bull is goe voor de bandjes,daarom eerst de soft,daarna de supersoft,.....alleen de ultra's als er strijd gelevert moet worden....

  RB verneukte de race in ausie omdat hij niet goed weg kwam. Nee liever nooit meer.

  Juist niet. Snel wegwezen en nogmaals de ultra eronder. Als 1 wagen het kan is RB het wel.

  Quali op soft is best een risico om op p11 te eindigen. De top vd middenmoot op ultrsoft zat volgens mij tegen de tijden aan van RB op soft. Een 1stopper is de vraag of dat lukt op deze baan. Maar goed, RB is nooit vies van een gewaagde strategie.
