Motorische problemen bij Red Bull Racing in derde vrije training

Voor Red Bull Racing is de laatste vrije training in Shanghai alles behalve vlekkeloos verlopen. Sterker nog: Daniel Ricciardo moet zijn RB14 zelfs aan de kant zetten met een geplofte motor. Het nieuws is een flinke domper voor het team en Renault, aangezien Renault gisteren bekend dat het vermogen van de motoren kan worden opgeschroefd. Ook Max Verstappen meldde tegen het einde van de training verlies van vermogen.

Ricciardo kende tijdens de race in Bahrein al in de tweede ronde een technisch probleem waardoor de teamgenoot van Max Verstappen over niet al te lange tijd tegen een gridstraf aan zal lopen. Er mogen dit jaar slechts drie motoren gebruikt worden en twee batterijen. Ricciardo liet in aanloop van het weekend in Shanghai al weten dat hij vermoed dat de batterij van de RB14 is overleden na zijn uitvalbeurt in Bahrein.

Op moment van schrijven wordt er nog hard gewerkt door Red Bull om de auto van Ricciardo op tijd af te krijgen voor de kwalificatie.
