Fernando Alonso tevreden met 'comfortabele' McLaren

In tegenstelling tot teamgenoot Stoffel Vandoorne, wist Fernando Alonso tijdens de tweede vrije training in Bakoe wel een snelle ronde te rijden en sloot de tweevoudig wereldkampioen de dag als zesde af. Alonso is blij met de gedane arbeid op de eerste trainingsdag en voelt zich naar eigen zeggen comfortabel in de McLaren MCL33.

In een reactie op de officiële website van McLaren laat Alonso het volgende weten: "Op een stratencircuit is vertrouwen en je comfortabel voelen in de auto erg belangrijk. Ik voel me goed in de auto en het is fijn om te zien dat onze auto in alle drie de sectoren sterk is. We hebben wat nieuwe onderdelen meegenomen en deze lijken goed te werken, ten opzichte van de vorige races lijken we wat meer snelheid te hebben gevonden. Of onze snelheid genoeg is voor een plekje in de top tien in de kwalificatie is nog even afwachten, met het oog op een vrije bandenkeuze is een plekje buiten de top tien ook niet slecht."

Alonso heeft na drie races 22 punten gescoord, vorig jaar scoorde de Spanjaard in Bakoe zijn eerste punten van het seizoen dankzij een negende plaats.
