Gebrek aan downforce belemmert vooruitgang Force India

Force India heeft te weinig downforce, waardoor coureurs Sergio Perez en Esteban Ocon consessies moeten doen voor de balans van de auto. Dat stelt Perez in gesprek met Autosport. De problemen belemmeren progressie bij de renstal.

"We worstelen flink met de downforce en dat voelen wij in de balans", aldus Perez. "Als je kijkt naar Barcelona, of de andere races, dan komen we tekort. Ik ben benieuwd waar we in Monaco staan."

"Het is spannend tussen Haas, Renault, McLaren en wijzelf. De kleinste verbeteringen kunnen een grote impact hebben op het resultaat aan de finish. Het gaat om kleine marges, maar ik denk dat we op dit moment achteraan dit groepje bungelen."

Perez eindigde als derde tijdens de Grand Prix van Azerbeidzjan, maar de Mexicaan werd daarbij flink geholpen door de problemen van de auto's voor hem. De stand geeft volgens hem dan ook geen eerlijk beeld.

"Het kampioenschap ziet er beter uit dan het is op dit moment", geeft Perez toe. "Hopelijk kunnen we het gat snel dichten. Alles hangt af van de juiste update, want niet alles werkt. Als we de komende races efficient werken, maakt dat een wereld van verschil."
