Perez: "Montreal is lastig circuit met weinig ruimte voor fouten"

Force India-coureur Sergio Perez heeft zin in de Grand Prix van Canada. De Mexicaan heeft naar eigen zeggen goede herinneringen aan het circuit en ook de layout van de baan bevalt Perez wel. De kleine foutmarges maken het een interessante race.

"Ik kom graag naar Canada, ik heb mooie herinneringen aan Montreal", aldus Perez. "Ik eindigde hier op het podium in 2012 na een van de spannendste races uit mijn loopbaan. Ik zie ieder jaar ook veel Mexicaanse fans op de tribune, dat is erg speciaal voor me."

Afgezien van zijn goede herinneringen, kan ook het Circuit de Gilles Villeneuve rekenen op de goedkeuring van de Mexicaan. "De baan is lastig. Er zijn een aantal bochten die je eenvoudig de kop kunnen kosten en het is lastig om een strakke ronde te rijden."

"Mijn favoriete deel is de laatste chicane: je komt daar aan na het lange rechte stuk en je moet precies op het juiste moment op de rem gaan. Het is simpel om een foutje te maken en dan staat daar de Wall of Champions, waar geen ruimte is voor fouten. Een fout kan je een hele ronde kosten, of zelfs de race."
