Officieel: Grand Prix België verlengt contract tot en met 2021

Gisteravond laat werd bekend dat de Grand Prix van België het contract voor de organisatie van een Formule 1 Grand Prix met drie jaar heeft verlengt. De verlenging betekent dat de race op het beroemde circuit van Spa-Francorchamps sowieso tot en met 2021 op de kalender blijft. 

Het nieuws werd gisteren bekend gemaakt tijdens het programma Formule 1 Cafe op Ziggo Sport. De kaartverkoop voor de Grand Prix loopt sinds het debuut van Max Verstappen in de Formule 1 als een trein en de laatste jaren waren de taluds en tribunes veelal oranje gekleurd.

Mooi. We mogen blij zijn met een prachtige race zo dichtbij, daar zijn de meeste andere Europeanen jaloers op. En het scheelt weer een zinloze subsidie-injectie in Zandvoort of een optocht op het veel te smalle Assen.

      Beetje sneue reacties hier, het is nooit de bedoeling geweest dat Spa ruim baan moest maken voor een Nederlandse GP. Verder goed nieuws natuurlijk, maar ga liever naar Oostenrijk.

      @Ace Maar met dit contract is het wel minder waarschijnlijk dat Nederland komende jaren een GP toegewezen krijgt. Spa is ook om Nederlandse fans tevreden te houden.
      Los van dat het een mooie baan is, en nu krijgen Miami en Vietnam voorrang komende jaren, daar kun je op rekenen.

      Sander: Helemaal mee eens, ben er zelf al 2 keer geweest en ik vond het daar veel leuker en gezelliger dan op Monza.
      Het circuit telt meer mochten en minder lange stukken dan Monza.

    Supergoed nieuws, maar dit bericht is niet volledig. Heeft iemand een idee of ze nog steeds het alleenrecht hebben op een F1 GP in de Benelux ? Persoonlijk heb ik liever een GP op Spa, dan waar dan ook in NL. Spa én een NL'se GP zou ik natuurlijk prima vinden.

      Én én gaat denk ik nniet gebeuren komende tijd. Liberty weet wel dat Spa ook voor de Nederlandse fans belangrijk is, en nu kunnen ze fijn andere gegadigden voorrang geven voor de schaarse plekjes op de kalender.

    Overigens een schitterend circuit die never-nooit van de kalender mag verdwijnen.

    Gaaf en terecht dat het mooiste F1 circuit op de kalender blijft staan t/m 2021, al is 3 jaar erbij eigenlijk veels tekort.

      Mwah nergens staat dat het na die drie jaar eindigt. Dan zal er gewoon opnieuw onderhandeld worden. Het schijnt dat Bernhard van Oranje zijn haar geel zwart en rood laat verven en een overnamebod voorbereidt.
