Officieel: Lotus Renault GP stelt Fairuz Fauzy aan als reserverijder

In tegenstelling tot alle eerdere berichtgeving is Romain Grosjean niet aangesteld als reserverijder van Lotus Renault GP. Het team bevestigde vanavond namelijk dat voormalig Tean Lotus-tester Fairuz Fauzy deze rol op zich zal nemen in 2011.

Fauzy werd begin 2010 bij Team Lotus bevestigt als test- en reserverijder voor vijf jaar. Echter, eind vorig jaar werd het contract van de Maleisiër ontbonden door het team, waardoor hij vanaf 2011 de officiële reserverijder is van Lotus Renault GP. Vorig jaar reed Fauzy al tijdens de Grands Prix van Maleisië, Engeland, Duitsland, Singapore en Abu Dhabi op vrijdag.

"Ik wil Lotus Renault GP graag bedanken dat ik deze kans krijg en dat ik deel kan uitmaken van het team", vertelde Fauzy vanavond. "Het is een geweldig team. Ik zal mijn uiterste best doen en hopelijk krijg ik in de toekomst dan een contract als racecoureur."

Verder werd bevestigd dat Fauzy komend jaar in de GP2 Series zal racen voor Super Nova.
