Sergio Perez: "Zorg voor consistentie met betrekking tot kerbstones"

Force India-coureur Sergio Perez heeft zich negatief uitgelaten over de kerbstones op de Red Bull Ring. Gisteren beschadigden meerdere coureurs hun auto door te ver over de kerbstones te rijden. Volgens Perez moet de Formule 1 een beter beleid hanteren ten aanzien van 'track limits' en de kerbstones.

"De kerbstones hier kunnen je auto volledig slopen. Dat is niet iets van dit jaar, ook de afgelopen jaren was dat het geval. Op sommige banen kun je er zonder problemen over heen rijden zonder dat het je iets doet, maar hier kan het meteen einde verhaal zijn. De kerbstones hier zijn zo om te voorkomen dat we te wijd gaan, maar voor ieder circuit zou het beleid met betrekking tot track limits gelijk moeten zijn", aldus Perez in gesprek met Autosport.

In de vrijdagtrainingen beschadigden Kevin Magnussen, Stoffel Vandoorne, Fernando Alonso, Pierre Gasly en Daniel Ricciardo hun auto's door te wijd te gaan over de kerbs. Pierre Gasly miste zelfs een groot deel van de tweede vrije training vanwege een gebroken voorwielophanging.
