Leclerc wil in race gridstraf zo snel mogelijk ongedaan maken

Charles Leclerc bereikte voor de zede keer op rij Q2, maar zal slecht van de achttiende plek starten door een gridstraf. De Monegask wil de verloren posities zo snel mogelijk terugwinnen en zal daarvoor bij de start de nodige risico's nemen.

In de derde vrije training gaf de versnellingsbak in de Sauber van Leclerc de geest. Hij kwalificeerde zich als dertiende, maar een gridstraf wierp hem terug naar startplaats 18. Het doel is om zo snel mogelijk terrein goed te maken, zodat punten haalbaar zijn. "Ik moet wel risico's nemen bij de start door dat probleem met de ophanging, waardoor mijn versnellingsbak gewisseld moest worden", vertelde Leclerc na de kwalificatie.

"Hopelijk hebben we een goede start en een goede eerste ronde. Het is behoorlijk optimistisch om punten als doelstelling te hebben. Toch is het nog steeds het doel, maar het wordt lastig om ze daadwerkelijk te pakken op zondag."

Q2 bereiken 'gekkenwerk' voor Sauber

Leclerc scoorde in vier van de laatste vijf races punten en dat lukte elke keer nadat hij minimaal Q2 bereikte in de kwalificatie. Hij en Sauber moeten de huidige kwalificatievorm niet voor lief nemen, want hij noemt de huidige prestaties 'gekkenwerk'. "Ik denk dat dit lastig is, maar we moeten nog steeds genieten van Q2. Van buiten kan het nu misschien normaal lijken, maar ik denk dat we sinds een tijdje elke kwalificatie een geweldige job doen."

"In de laatste run van Q2 hadden we een probleem met de balans, maar P13 is erg positief", vervolgt Leclerc. "De balans was niet zoals gewenst en ik maakte ook een foutje. De auto hielp me echter niet om de gewenste ronde eruit te krijgen, maar daarvoor liep alles behoorlijk goed. Dat gebeurt soms, maar ik blijf benadrukken dat we tevreden moeten zijn met P13."

  Voor die tijd struin ik het internet af om te kijken wat Ricciardo

  Off topic. Jeffrey Herlings had 18 dagen geleden de sleutelbeen gebroken, daarna een operatie. En nu wint hij zowaar in de MXGP de GP van Indonesië. Voor zijn grote concurrent Tony Cairoli moet het demotiverend zijn.

De gridstraffen zijn werkelijk belachelijk. ZSM afschaffen. waarom een coureur bestraffen voor mechanische pech. Alsof dat de kosten druk.

We kunnen nu eens zien of al het omhoog schrijven van lec op feiten berust. Ik heb hem nog niet echt een inhaalrace zien rijden , alleen maar een goede kwali zien rijden. Als hij deze race goed naar voren kan rijden is dat een bevestiging van zijn talent.

  Leclerc is zoveel meer dan een coureur, hij vertoont nu al op 20 jarige leeftijd trekjes van een absolute legende. Vergelijkbaar met Schumacher en Senna en MET de potentie die voorbij te gaan.’ ?

  In het verleden zijn er meer omhoog geschreven, maar hebben het niet waar kunnen maken.
  De GP2 is wat anders dan F1. In de F1 rijdt Leclerc tegen coureurs die een gelijkwaardige talent hebben, en coureurs die meer talent hebben.
