FIA plaatst extra kerbstones in laatste bocht Silverstone na overschrijden 'track limits'

De FIA heeft gisteravond laten weten dat er extra kerbstones komen in Club, de laatste bocht voor start-finish op het circuit van Silverstone. De extra kerbstones zijn aangebracht om te voorkomen dat coureurs extreem wijd gaan in een poging extra snelheid mee te nemen op het rechte stuk. Tijdens de vrijdagtrainingen respecteerden de coureurs de limieten van de baan niet in de laatste bocht en daarom heeft de FIA direct besloten om in te grijpen.

Vorige week zorgden de kerbstones op de Red Bull Ring nog voor de nodige ophef. Meerdere coureurs liepen forse schade op aan hun bolides wanneer ze te wijd gingen. Op Silverstone zullen niet de gele kerbstones worden aangebracht zoals op de Red Bull Ring, maar een ritje over de nieuwe kerbs zal volgens Max Verstappen ook geen pretje zijn: "Bij die kerbs wil je zoveel mogeijk wegblijven. Als je daar overheen gaat dan krijg je vliegles."
