Mercedes trekt Hamilton niet voor in titelstrijd

Het team van Mercedes zal Lewis Hamilton geen voorkeursbehandeling geven in de strijd om de wereldtitel. Dat stelt Mercedes-chef Toto Wolff in gesprek met Crash.net. Volgens de teambaas handelde Mercedes in Duitsland puur uit teambelang, de volgorde waarin rijders eindigen is niet belangrijk.

“We wilden er zeker van zijn dat we een een-tweetje zouden boeken", aldus Wolff. "We zouden het andersom precies hetzelfde gedaan hebben. Als Valtteri aan de leiding had gereden en Lewis tweede, dan hadden we dezelfde beslissing genomen. Een identiek besluit."

Volgens Wolff is het voor Mercedes op dit moment van het seizoen nog niet van belang welke rijder voor de ander eindigt. Het teambelang staat voorlopig voorop. "Het draait om het resultaat naar huis brengen, wie vooraan rijdt is irrelevant."

      Triest dat bedekken van een eerste en tweede rijder. De hele wereld weet dat Vettel en Hamilton No1 rijder zijn, en ze blijven het glashard ontkennen, alsof wij achterlijk zijn. Die Toto spoort echt niet en ino gewoon niet professioneel genoeg om op die plaats te zitten. Het is dat Mgp het tot nu toe eenvoudig kon winnen allemaal, maar nu het maar een beetje tegenzit begint de werkelijk Toto in beeld te komen.

      @Nep Iedereen weet het en iedereen snapt dat het gebeurt. Vettel en Hamilton willen allebei het kampioenschap. Mercedes en Ferrari willen dat allebei.
      Maar waarom moeten Wolff en Arivabene dat nu ineens eerlijk tegenover iedereen toegeven? Dat zijn interne zaken binnen de teams, en die gaan niemand anders iets aan.
      Mensen zijn gewoon uit op schandaaltjes en conflicten.

      Door hem nu wel naar binnen te roepen, voorkwamen ze dat hem niet hetzelfde zou overkomen als in Silverstone. Dan had hij wellicht aan de leiding gereden, maar alle andere coureurs achter hem stonden op veel sneller rubber, en dan was hij waarschijnlijk weer vierde geworden.

      En Bottas kreeg tog een kans? Toen zijn aanval mislukt was kreeg hij pas het bericht om positie te houden.

      Net de herhaling teruggekeken. Hamilton stond 25 seconden achter op Vettel in ronde 43. Vlak voor de crash van Vettel was het nog 10 seconden in rondje 53. Dus Hamilton was met zijn pace zeker niet kansloos voor de overwinning zonder de crash.

      Misschien niet, maar door de saftcar konden ze niet anders. Kimi, Lewis en Max stonden op nieuwe ultra's, dan had hij de leiding nooit kunnen houden, en was hij waarschijnlijk 4e geworden.

    Hmmm.... ik betwijfel het. Het is natuurlijk niet de meest populaire manier om ervoor uit te komen dat je alles op Hamilton zet, maar logisch en eerlijk is het wel.

    Tuurlijk niet, en Sinterklaas bestaat ook. Kom op zeg, ze willen a) WC-teams worden en b) Lewis aan zijn record-WC helpen. Reken maar dat Bottas in de remmen moet als Lewis achter hem rijdt.

    ik vertrouw die Toto voor geen meter, maar dit geloof ik nog wel. Waren ze bij Ferrari maar zo slim om hun coureurs niet in elkaars weg te laten rijden.

    Door dat gestuntel met Hamilton die wel/niet besluit de pitstop te maken waren ze bij Mercedes bang dat er een tijdstraf zou komen. Daarom moest Hamilton van zijn engineer ook keihard pushen om genoeg marge te krijgen en mocht Bottas niet meer aanvallen.

    Ik ben Buiten een F1 fan ook RBR fan.
    Maar RBR kan nog wat leren van onze Mercedesboys.

    De boardradio "keep positions" vond ik veel beter klinken dan "go get him".....

      Ze (RBR) hadden het anders in moeten vullen (achteraf gelul ik weet het)
      Laat die Red Bull boys dan eerst de eerste of tweede stint christelijk afronden voordat je ze loslaat als je dat als team zo graag wil (vrij racen geen teamorders)
      Maar nee, elke ronde vol aanvallen en verdedigen.....
      Hoeveel rondetijd zal het ze gekost hebben voordat Daniel Max penetreerde.....

    Ik ben geen toto fan maar ik geloof mercedes wel.

    Het is een feit dat Bottas sinds hij bij mer zit mag winnen getuige zijn overwinnigen en niet wordt terug gevloten ten voordele van ham.
    Als vb, bij fer mag kimi niet winnen sinds vettel daar rijdt. Hij wordt vanaf de start geslachtofferd en daarom wint hij zelfs niet als vet uitvalt.

    Ik weet niet welke race maar toen moest hij ham voorbij laten omdat ham sneller was en ham mocht proberen de auto voor de mer in te halen. Toen dat niet lukte heeft ham bottas weer voorbij gelaten. En dat terwijl midden in een wk strijd zit en kostbare punten had kunnen vergaren dmv een teamorder.
    Bv fer zou of rbr in tijdperk vet zou dit nooit doen, heeft de ervaring ook geleerd.

    Toto met zijn gezeur, het is of Vettel of Lewis die de titel gaat winnen, dat weet iedereen, de andere zijn of niet goed genoeg, of hebben de auto er niet voor.
    De rest kan je zelf wel invullen hoe het zal gaan.

    Weet de reacties hier nog toen Ricciardo Verstappen eraf reed en dat toen iedereen van mening was dat RBR had moeten ingrijpen en dus teamorders had moeten geven. Bottas reed achter Hamilton en als hij door een natte plek de controle had verloren en Hamilton eraf had getikt had iedereen hier Bottas een sukkel genoemd. Het team had groot gelijk Bottas terug te fluiten.

    Een teamorder zoals bij Raikkonen vind ik erger en zulke orders zouden de hele race verboden moeten worden.

    Natuurlijk wel, ze zouden ook dom zijn als ze het niet deden. Snap niet dat mensen dit kunnen waarderen en dan afgeven op Ferrari waar ze er wel gewoon voor uit komen dat ze een 1e en 2e rijder hebben. Dit achterbakse gedrag zit toch niemand op te wachten?
    Lewis probeert ook altijd zo hard mogelijk te roepen dat hij geen 1e rijder is. En zie, zijn fanboy's verkondigen dat hij geen 1e rijder is. Knap staaltje toneelspel weer Lewis :)

      Wie zegt beweert of onkent hier dat ham nr 1 is?

      Het feit is dat bot mag winnen en niet vanaf de start opgeofferd wordt.
      En de coureurs bij mer mogen vechten. Duels tussen ham en ros vergeten?
      Dat kun je van kimi niet zeggen en helemaal niet over een duel tussen rai en vet spreken.
