Di Grassi in beeld bij Pirelli voor rol als testcoureur

Lucas di Grassi bestuurt dit jaar wellicht toch een Formule 1-auto. Bandenfabrikant Pirelli denkt aan de Braziliaan als vervanger voor Romain Grosjean als testrijder. Di Grassi debuteerde vorig seizoen in de Formule 1 bij Virgin Racing.

Voor 2011 raakte hij zijn plek kwijt aan Jerome D'Ambrosio, maar Di Grassi blijft mogelijk betrokken in de Formule 1-wereld. Turun Sanomat meldt dat het waarschijnlijk is dat Pirelli het aflopende contract van tester Pedro de la Rosa verlengt. Bij Grosjean ligt dat anders. De Fransman gaat racen in de GP2 bij DAMS en de verwachting is dat hij ook als reserverijder in dienst gaat bij Renault. Om enige vorm van partijdigheid of voordeel te voorkomen wil Pirelli niet dat een testcoureur ook onder contract staat bij een van de huidige teams.
