Wolff: "Mercedes is competitiever geworden onder warme omstandigheden"

Het team van Mercedes kan sinds de Grand Prix van Hongarije beter presteren onder warme omstandigheden. Dat stelt Mercedes-teambaas Toto Wolff in gesprek met RaceFans.net. Volgens Wolff heeft de Duitse renstal veel zelfvertrouwen geput uit de prestaties op de Hungaroring.

"Ik denk dat schone lucht een grote rol speelt", aldus Wolff. "Toch is het een klein mysterie waarom de banden soms wel werken en soms niet. Ik denk dat het andersom is bij Ferrari. Kortom, we moeten meer data verzamelen en meer leren begrijpen."

Toch heeft het Hongaarse weekend Mercedes veel goeds gebracht. "Het overheersende gevoel voor ons is dat we een race gewonnen hebben in Boedapest, een plek met baantemperaturen rond de zestig graden. We hadden gedacht dat dit niet haalbaar zou zijn voor ons en dit geeft ons het gevoel dat we in de toekomst beter begrijpen hoe we competitief kunnen zijn in warme races."
