Wolff op weg naar Spa: "Krachtsverhoudingen onmogelijk te voorspellen"

De zomerstop nadert zijn einde en dat betekent ook dat de titelstrijd tussen Mercedes en Ferrari weer verder gaat. Mercedes-teambaas Toto Wolff kijkt, in gesprek met de officiële Formule 1-site, uit naar het vervolg van het seizoen. "Ons eerste race na de zomerstop zal op het historische circuit van Spa-Francorchamps plaatsvinden, waar zich de meest spectaculaire Grand Prix hebben afgespeeld. Bochten als Eau Rouge zijn bekend over de hele wereld en de races zijn altijd aantrekkelijk met een enthousiast publiek."

"Voor het team is het een lastig circuit, want het is niet gemakkelijk om de juiste set-up te vinden, omdat het een circuit is met lange rechte stukken, maar ook veel snelle en langzame bochten. Je wilt genoeg downforce hebben voor de bochten, maar niet teveel drag hebben voor de rechte stukken. Het is daarom ook erg moeilijk om iets te zeggen over de krachtsverhoudingen in België."

Dat heeft het seizoen tot dusver geleerd volgens Wolff. "Er zijn geen torenhoge favorieten voor specifieke circuits en de beste wint ook niet altijd meer. Het is wel duidelijk dat onze favorieten erg hard werken en het uiterste van ons vergen. Dus we moeten blijven vechten om onze zwaktes weg te werken en onze krachten per race uit te breiden. 2018 is op weg een jaar te worden, waarover we nog lang zullen praten. Dus we kunnen er niet op wachten om weer te beginnen."

  Tja ik weet het niet. Als het een beetje nat is dan geef ik Ham een goede kans, Anders wordt het weer een koude oorlog die om de strategie gaat. Ik denk dat Vettel wint. Wedden durf ik het niet. Maar hij zal wel motte;)

Moet iedereen meer vleugel zetten om de mindere grip te kompenseren?
Dit geeft drs meer snelheidsverschil en meer kans op inhaal acties.
