'Formule 1 dreigt tegen personeelstekort aan te lopen'

Mercedes en andere Formule 1-teams hebben moeite om personeel aan zich te binden. Dat heeft Susie Wolff, de vrouw van Mercedes-teambaas Toto, verteld in een interview met Forbes.

Volgens Wolff heeft Mercedes, een team met een van de grootste bestanden aan medewerkers, moeite om mensen te vinden voor de topfuncties. "Toto en het hoofd van de HR-afdeling van Mercedes F1 zijn zich bewust van het gebrek aan mensen dat zich aanmeldt voor de topposities. Hij maakt zich niet druk om welk geslacht ze inhuren, maar wel over hoeveel talent hij voorbij ziet komen. Hij zal altijd de beste mensen kiezen voor de functie, ongeacht geslacht. Toto en het hoofd van de HR-afdeling zien dat en proberen het ook te veranderen."

In mei vertelde Christian Horner nog dat veel medewerkers van Formule 1-teams moeten vrezen voor hun baan als er een budgetlimiet komt. Ook zouden leveranciers daardoor minder banen kunnen aanbieden. Dat lijkt bijna ironisch, aangezien de FIA en Liberty Media in de afgelopen maanden er alles aan deden om Force India te behouden voor de Formule 1, iets waarmee ruim 400 banen gered werden.

    De economie draait op volle toeren , waarom dan een baan nemen waarbij je nooit meer thuis bent. Je zult wel gek zijn omdat te doen.
    En als er nog meer races komen zal het helemaal lastig worden. Alleen duren de periodes dat het economisch top gaat jammer genoeg vrij kort.

      Dat is toch een droomjob om bij zo'n topteam te kunnen werken, ik zou mijn job er direct voor laten vallen. En je ziet nog een beetje van de wereld in ene weg.

      is gewoon een keuze tussen passie en familie , heb je geen gezin is de keuze simpel..., jaren meer dan 60 uur per week gewerkt en gereisd, nu een 36 uur per week baan (4 x9) en veel tijd voor de kids... prioriteiten heet dat.

      Racemonteur is een prachtig vak (heb het 20 jaar gedaan). En wagt er zo leuk is aan thuis zitten heb ik nooit begrepen Manuel.....maar veel plezier ermee.

    De topteams klagen maar een end weg over de budgetcap, maar voor de F1 in z'n geheel, en voor de kleine teams in het bijzonder, is het een noodzakelijke reddingsboei om te overleven.

    Dit personeelstekort ontstaat naar mijn mening alleen maar omdat er een soort wedloop ontstaat tussen Ferrari, Mercedes en Red Bull. Die budgetcap is zo gek niet!

      Ik heb zo'n idee dat de budget-cap als eerste gaat zorgen voor besparing op personeelskosten.
      Als de team bv nu 500 man in dienst heeft waarvan 100 in de minder technische top zoals personeel in de fabrieken zullen daar de eerste besparingen gebeuren, ze moeten ergens geld besparen en dat gaat bijna altijd als eerste ten koste van het personeel. Waar kunnen ze anders besparen ?

      Dus moet er personeel uit inderdaad. Zo hou je de beste over en over het algemeen vinden die mensen wel nieuw werk, want er is een enorme vraag naar technici. Die budgetcap lost het personeel tekort vervolgens op.
