Steiner: "Banden en balans zijn het belangrijkste in Singapore"

Haas-teambaas Guenther Steiner heeft toegegeven dat zijn team het wellicht moeilijk gaat krijgen in Singapore. Toch denkt hij dat Haas toch weer indruk kan maken. De achterstand op de vierde plek van Renault is slechts tien punten.

"We leren iedere race weer wat meer bij. Sommige lessen die we in Hongarije hebben geleerd, zullen ons helpen. Maar het aerodynamisch pakket is anders, dus het zal verschillend zijn. Maar het team weet nu wat het moet doen om de auto te laten werken onder normale omstandigheden."

"Ik denk niet dat de technische uitdagingen op het Marina Bay Street Circuit heel anders zijn dan die op andere circuits. Je moet de banden laten werken. De eerste vrije training is namelijk in daglicht en de tweede in het donker. Dus de temperatuur is verschillend."

Romain Grosjean presteert de laatste races goed. Al helemaal ten opzichte van de eerste helft van het seizoen. Steiner weer niet hoe dat komt. "Als ik wist hoe het kwam, had ik het eerder laten gebeuren. Ik denk dat hij heel gefocust is. Hij weet wat onze verwachtingen zijn. Romain moet zich gewoon focussen en concentreren op wat hij moet doen. Ik denk dat hem dat heeft geholpen."
