Charlie Whiting : "Regel blauwe vlaggen hoeft niet aangepast te worden"

Charlie Whiting heeft uitleg gegeven over de onhandige omstandigheden tijdens de Grand Prix van Singapore betreffende de blauwe vlaggen. Op de boordradio van Valtteri Bottas was al te horen dat Whiting geen actie zou ondernemen aangezien Bottas niet binnen 1.2 seconde van de achterblijvers was.

"We hebben afgelopen jaar de marge van 1.0 seconde naar 1.2 seconde gebracht om de coureurs tegemoet te komen. Ik denk niet dat we de parameters nog ruimer moeten gaan zetten", vertelde Whiting aan Autosport. "Feit blijft natuurlijk dat andere coureurs ontzettend veel tijd verliezen als we deze parameters gaan verruimen naar 1.6 of 1.8 seconden. Dit kan niet de bedoeling zijn."

Whiting was overigens wel uitgesproken over Romain Grosjean. Hij zou volgens de wedstrijdleider de 'Gouden Regel' wat betreft blauwe vlaggen overtreden hebben. Grosjean kreeg hiervoor van de stewards een tijdstraf van vijf seconden.

Dan krijg je dat klantenteams hun leveranciers gaat helpen. En dat is in het verleden wel degelijk gebeurd. Fontana, rijdend bij Sauber-Ferrari, moest in 1997 bijvoorbeeld Villeneuve in de weg rijden tijdens de laatste race omdat hij anders eruit gegooid zou worden.

    kon prima geraced worden en er kon prima naar andere wagens toegereden worden voor een blauwe vlag.

    als je dan een schuit onder je kont hebt die gemaakt is om op pole te starten en te rijden dan ehb je het inderdaad wat lastiger... Overigens ongeacht die schuit, Hamilton had in de situatie van Bottas dat ding er al 100 miljoen miljard keer langsaf geplempt, zelf als het GEEN blauwe vlag was...

      Off topic; best wel grappig het gezicht van Max toen Charlie Whiting de cooling down room gisteren binnenkwam. Hij had een blik van 'niet weer me van het podium halen hè?'.

      Dat ben ik helemaal met je eens, alleen zal dit nooit werken, Aangezien teamgenoten of teams met dezelfde motoren zich terug laten zakken en je express gaan blokken.

      Het is jammer dat ze in de formule 1 zo veel moeite hebben om kort achter elkaar te rijden en in te halen op pure snelheid, want het is toch raar dat een gedubbelde auto niet op snelheid voorbij gereden kan worden zonder een blauwe vlag.

      Het zou mooier zijn wanneer niet het halve veld gedubbeld word, zodat blauwe vlaggen maar incidenteel voor komen. Misschien is het dan ook mogelijk om ze af te schaffen en de mogelijke competitievervalsing op de koop toe te nemen.

    Gewoon afschaffen die blauwe vlaggen, dan komt die budgetcap er waarschijnlijk ook eerder.

    Voor de veiligheid blijven die blauwe lampjes belangrijk. De spiegels tonen niet alles en je staat er ook niet constant in te loeren. Anders loop je het risico dat je in wilt sturen er ineens iets tussen zit. En dan krijg je van die Perez moves...

      Kleinste budget van een F1 team is 110 miljoen. dat is dus per auto per race 2,6 miljoen.

      Dan lijkt het mij toch vrij redelijk dat alles wat in die 2 uurtjes gebeurt even geanalyseerd word.

      Dat dit vervolgens allemaal naar buiten gebracht word, en dat media dit oppikken en dat wij daar op reageren is een 2e.

      Ik bedoelde niet door de teams maar door de FIA. Die is veel te zenuwachtig op dit soort momenten.

      Denk dat het ook gewoon een wisselwerking is. Belangen zijn gewoon te groot om iets geen aandacht te geven. De blauwe vlaggen en hoe hiermee werd omgegaan was toch behoorlijk van invloed op deze race.
      Dus dan gaan de langzame teams "zeuren" dat ze te snel aan de kant moeten, de snelle teams dat er niet voldoende word gereageerd. Beide kloppen aan bij de FIA. Deze onderzoekt dit en komt met een oordeel.

    Klopt helemaal maar hij zal wel gerespecteerd moeten worden. Nu reed Max zo ineens 4 sec dicht. Gelukkig voor Lewis had dat geen gevolgen.

    Moest er ook niet aan denken dat het andersom was en je favoriet op die manier verslagen word. Dat zou een bittere pil zijn zeg.
