De autosportkalender voor dit weekend

We kijken vooruit naar de belangrijkste races voor het aankomende weekend. Formule 1 zal volgende week Rusland aandoen, maar er zijn genoeg andere klassen die dit weekend aan bod zullen komen.

Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters

Het DTM kampioenschap kent haar voorlaatste ronde op de Red Bull Ring. Na een kleurloos seizoen heeft Rene Rast plotseling een theoretische kans op de titel. Hiervoor is hij afhankelijk van Mercedes-coureurs Paul di Resta en Gary Paffett. Het weekend zal zoals gebruikelijk twee wedstrijden kennen. Op zaterdag en zondag strijden de coureurs voor maximaal 28 punten per dag. Robin Frijns staat op dit moment dertiende in het kampioenschap. De Limburger kon het afgelopen raceweekend op de Nürburgring zijn progressie helaas niet voortzetten. Met een tiende plaats tijdens de tweede race scoorde de voormalig Sauber-testrijder het laatste punt.

FIA European Formule 3

Het worden bepalende weken voor Red Bull-juniorcoureur Dan Ticktum en Toro Rosso. Ticktum, nog altijd op de radar voor een Formule 1-zitje in 2019, heeft slechts drie punten voorsprong op Mick Schumacher. Schumacher, die na een matig begin de smaak heeft te pakken, won liefst zes van zijn laatste tien races. Marcus Armstrong en Juri Vips lijken te zijn afgehaakt in de strijd om de titel. Het FIA European Formule 3-kampioenschap zal drie races rijden, allen zijn te zien op het YouTube kanaal van de FIA Formule 3.

European Le Mans Series

De European Le Mans Series doen dit weekend Spa-Francorchamps aan. Diverse Nederlanders zullen in de LMP3-klasse aan de start komen. Kay van Berlo en Job van Uitert rijden een fulltime programma en draaien mee in de top van het kampioenschap. Van Uitert is zelfs leider met zijn RLR Msport inschrijving. Jean-Eric Vergne is leider in de LMP2-klasse. Hij is niet de enige ex-Formule 1-coureur die op de grid staat. Ook Felipe Nasr rijdt dit jaar een fulltime programma.

Euroformula Open

Bent Viscaal maakt indruk dit jaar in het EuroFormula Open-kampioenschap. De Nederlander staat na een overwinning op Silverstone stevig op de tweede plaats in het kampioenschap achter de oppermachtige Felipe Drugovich. Drugovich wordt gezien als de Braziliaan die kans gaat maken om door te stromen richting de Formule 1. Viscaal is in zijn tweede jaar als autocoureur bezig met een indrukwekkend seizoen. De 18-jarige coureur uit Albergen heeft de leiding in het rookie-kampioenschap stevig in handen. De klasse zal dit weekend op Monza acteren. Kwalificaties en races zijn live te zien via het YouTube kanaal van EuroFormula Open.

ADAC Formule 4

Joey Alders zal dit weekend op Hockenheim de laatste drie races van het ADAC Formule 4-kampioenschap rijden. De Nederlander staat op dit moment elfde in het kampioenschap. De achterstand op de nummer 10 lijkt te groot om te overbruggen. Lirim Zendeli is inmiddels tot kampioen gekroond maar het gevecht om de tweede plaats is nog open. Liam Lawson en Frederik Vesti zitten Enzo Fittpaldi op de hielen. Fittipaldi maakt overigens deel uit van de Ferrari Acadamy. Hij heeft volgende week overigens nog wel kans op de Italiaanse Formule 4-titel als dat kampioenschap hun afsluitende races heeft op Mugello.

En er is ook het finaleweekend van de ADAC GT Masters op Hockenheim, waar Dontje en Buhk nog flink aan de bak moeten om hun 5e plek veilig te stellen.

  Klopt helemaal. Een mooi kampioenschap, lijkt mij zelfs sterker dan het Blancpain kampioenschap. Desondanks doet Indy Dontje het als fabriekscoureur bij Mercedes uitstekend. Indy heeft echt goede snelheid en ik vind het jammer dat een single seater carriere er bij hem niet in zat. Vorig jaar gaf hij nog commentaar met Jur Raatjes bij de 24 uur van Le Mans. Erg leuk om naar deze jongen te luisteren.
