Verstappen strijdbaar: "Veel inhalen, misschien kan ik dan nog vijfde worden"

Beide Red Bull-coureurs grijpen in Sochi weer terug op de oude motor, de B-Spec en zullen daar de prijs voor moeten betalen. Verstappen en Ricciardo zullen zondag allebei vanuit het achterveld moeten starten en zich van daaruit een weg naar voren moeten banen. De Nederlander heeft daar wel vertrouwen in. 

„Ik zal moeten inhalen. Dan hoop ik dat een vijfde plek er nog inzit”, liet Verstappen weten aan De Telegraaf. Daarvoor zal hij zich dus sneller een weg naar voren moeten banen dan zijn teamgenoot Ricciardo. 

Red Bull Racing grijpt terug naar de B-Spec, omdat de C-Spec sneller was, maar ook een stuk minder betrouwbaar. In Japan wil Red Bull Racing wel weer gaan proberen om met de C-Spec te gaan rijden, omdat er daar een grotere kans is op de winst. Daarom worden in Rusland ook de gridstraffen gepakt.

      Ik zie dat scenario echter niet gebeuren en dan zal een p5 al hèèl erg goed zijn.

      “Onze kenner” Bleekemolen vertelde ook dat hij niet kon begrijpen dat RBR teruggreep naar de b spec. Dat is was vanwege de ijle lucht in Mexico is de beste man totaal ontgaan.
      Vaak denk ik dat Bleekemolen helemaal geen races kijkt en ook geen nieuws volgt maar gewoon wat roept als daarom gevraagd wordt.

    • Bleekemolen is, met alle respect, een oude man wiens oordeel je met een korreltje zout moet nemen. Beetje hetzelfde als Jackie Stewart. Leuk hun meningen en voorspellingen maar het voegt weinig meer toe dan de mening van de gemiddelde diehard F1 fans hier.

    • Wat Bleekemolen bedoelt is juist het druk zetten op Renault.
      De leverancier geeft een sterkere motor om in te zetten, geeft 30PK meer dus waarom niet gebruiken?.. ongeacht wat er gebeurt?.. ja, tuurlijk! Meer kans op een goede positie in de race en dan.. oohoohw..

      Geef deze motor niet vrij als er geen eer behaald kan worden!

      Ok, zegt RBR... geef dat ding maar, we zullen aanpassen...

      2e plek in Maleisië; Wij ‘Renault’ zijn heel opgetogen van de ‘C’ Spec!
      Prachtig resultaat!
      Klopt, maar..... kinderziektes?
      Renault; wij gebruiken de nieuwste motor niet omdat deze niet betrouwbaar is..
      RBR; Renault zou hem wel moeten toepassen, maar waagt het niet.

      Renault voor 2019; De ‘C’ spec is een goede indicatie voor 2019..

      De laatste tijd wordt het al dan niet duidelijk en is Renault niks opgeschoten?

      Bottas zit in een vibe om te willen winnen, van plek 4 wilt hij 2 ferrari's inhalen om hamilton te bereiken maar hij raakt de 2 ferrari's en crashed in hamilton, en 2 ferrari's crashen vervolgens daarom tegen elkaar :p end top 4 :)

    • @mistert , ik zeg dat de derde plek bijna een onmogelijke taak gaat worden, natuurlijk kan iedereen crashen, maar als je reëel bent is dat geen normale voorspelling. 5de kan, maar RB heeft op dit circuit meer concurrentie dan alleen Ferrari en Mgp.

      Ze gaan gewoon voor een verse motor omdat ze denken dat er hier niet veel te halen valt. De rest van het seizoen pakken ze als het goed is geen straffen meer dan omdat ze genoeg achter de hand hebben. of het slim is? dat gaan we zien. Maar als er 1 baan nog is dit jaar om een beetje zekerheid te krijgen op de overige banen/races is het om hem nu te vervangen en zo het seizoen goed te kunnen afsluiten.

    • Ice is toch maar 10 plaatsen gridstraf? @NSF1 in Monza hadden ze inderdaad nog een goede b-spec motor maar die had het nooit nog 7 races uitgehouden. Die motor zit nu natuurlijk nog wel in de "motorenpool" van RB.

      Maakt niet uit wanneer de motorwissel wordt doorgegeven. Je wordt gewoon vanaf je Q positie het aantal plaatsen teruggezet wat je als penalty hebt gekregen.

    In de Telegraaf staat juist dat RB de C-spec niet gaat gebruiken in Mexico:

    "Dat moesten we een keer doen, want die C-spec kunnen we niet op grote hoogtes gebruiken, zoals in Mexico en Brazilië”, aldus Verstappen. „Dan kan-ie uit elkaar klappen. "

  • Ben vooral benieuwd wat Vettel en Hamilton bij de start gaan doen in de eerste paar bochies. En een race in de race tussen Max en Ric maakt het sowieso een stuk leuker om naar deze doorgaans saaie race te kijken.

  • Tja de wielen zijn rond dus we zien het wel. Hopelijk een paar uitvallers voor hem bij de start anders is het inderdaad gaan voor plekkie 5/6. ik zal wel flink balen als dat ding ploft, want ze ruilen hem juist voor de betrouwbaarheid.

      Heb vertrouwen in het geheel.
      Aan Max zou het niet mogen liggen, die stuurt de laatste tijd met inzicht.
      De Renaults ploffen niet zo vaak meer is mijn beleving.
      In iedergeval niet die op mijn oprit staat.
      Zolang de 40 kW batterij maar geladen is rijdt ie super.

    Natuurlijk weten wij al dat er alvast bepaalde krantenkoppen uit de doos gehaald zullen worden (zoals Sensationele inhaalmanoeuvres, fenomenaal, driver of the day enz. enz.) als er relatief mindere auto's ingehaald zullen worden. Ben je het niet eens. Wacht dan maar tot zondag.

  • Als Max 5e wordt, maakt het onder normale omstandigheden geen reet uit waar hij start. ;-)

  • Grid straffen voor beide RB's, beide TR's en ook voor Alonso (?).
    Vroegah kreeg je per vervangen component een aantal gridplaatsen. Die werden dan opgeteld bij je kwalificatie resultaat. Maar omdat mensen 35 posities gridstraf maar raar vonden is dat overboord gezet en start je bij een motorwissel 'gewoon achteraan'.
    Maar er kan er natuurlijk maar een achteraan staan...

    Als ik het goed begrepen heb is de kwalificatie niet meer bepalend maar is het en geval van wie meldt zich het eerst. Meldt je je als eerste > sta je achteraan. Meldt zich daarna nog iemand > dan staat die daar weer achter (en staat de eerste melder daardoor 1 na laatste), enz. Heb ik dat goed begrepen?

    Zo ja, dan zou een stukkie communicatie tussen RB en TR ervoor kunnen worgen dat RB 17 en 18 start en TR 19 en 20.
