Sirotkin: "Sochi was de pijnlijkste race van 2018"

Williams-coureur Sergey Sirotkin beschouwt de Grand Prix van Rusland van afgelopen weekend als zijn pijnlijkste Formule 1-race tot nu toe. De Rus werd zondag in zijn thuisrace laatste en dat hakt er in bij Sirotkin.

"Een erg pijnlijke race was het, de pijnlijkste van het seizoen kun je wel zeggen. Terwijl we hier echt met punten weg hadden kunnen gaan, wanneer je kijkt naar waar we stonden en naar hoe onze snelheid was. Maar direct vanaf de start ging eigenlijk alles fout."

Volgens de Rus lag dat vooral aan randzaken. "We hebben eigenlijk de hele race op de verkeerde plek op de baan gereden, met het meeste verkeer. Ik denk dat we sommige dingen erg goed deden, maar buiten dat om ging er steeds meer mis in de race en dat was een pijnlijke situatie voor me in mijn thuisrace."
